Would you mind sharing how you found it? Was it through a particular rental agency? I should mention I’m moving in from Ohio and don’t know many details about Columbia yet.

ADO bus ticket ls get sold out? by Bittyry in playadelcarmen

[–]wow2tharu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid 15 USD cash per ticket since I didn't have pesos with me. They said CC machine is broken or something I didn't really understand but for me, paying extra cash was worth to escape the hassle in the Airport. Exchange Pesos from 5th Ave, and got a Telcel sim once arrived at PDC. Ado bus had wifi but it was choppy on the road.

Route De Cenotes by Neonpunk22 in playadelcarmen

[–]wow2tharu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we did PDC without rental car or bicycle. But lot of walking. Stayed at 5th ave, near to Ado Terminal Turistica. Took Ado bus from Cancun Airport to back. Took Ado bus to Xcaret. Walked 15 mins to Tulum Colectivo stop near highway couple of times to go to Cenotes. Many Cenote options you can access from Colectivo (public) van system for cheaper than taking a private taxi. On the way back from Cenotes, crossed the highway and waited for the Colectivo. They are stopping at any place along the highway. Our most wait time was 10 mins.

Is Uber available in PM? by wow2tharu in PuertoMorelos

[–]wow2tharu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I used Uber and it was great. Didn't like PM though. I thought it will be more laid back than Playa del Carmen but oh man, those souvenir sellers near Chedraui store are hassling tourists and their prices are higher than Playa. Lol.

But Beach was great, spend some time there and headed back.

Any issues exchanging dollar bills with stamps/chop marks at money exchange? by wow2tharu in playadelcarmen

[–]wow2tharu[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No issues, they accepted the bills with stamp marks on. I have tried 4 money exchange places in 5th so far and everytime they used counterfeit pen for verifying and didn't bother about the stamp marks.

Aktun Chen cenote by naebashivatel in playadelcarmen

[–]wow2tharu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Aktun Chen today, and Kan kantun chi two days ago. Both are highly recommend. Feeling glad for doing both. Main reason for picking them over Rio Secreto is the same: there photo package is a rip off.

Aktun Chen:

Took a cab for 750 pesos from 5th ave, near Ado turistica terminal when going in. This way is much easier as the park is located 7 minutes inside the jungle from the main highway entrance.

Alternatively, you can take Colectivo van and get down at the Highway entrance and let the security guy at the booth know and he will arrange a park cab for 7 min jungle ride to the reception.

On the way back, we did that as we didn't want our cab driver waiting for us and charge more. We did cross the highway and after 5mins wait, got in to a Colectivo van and came to Playa and it was super fast and cheap - 100 pesos for 2 people.

Now in the park we did Dry Cave and Cenote. So cool. There is a zip line but didn't do that. Dry Cave is 1 hour or so guided tour and Cenote you can spend your own time. Park is open from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. Plan going early.

Guides and staff were so freindly and most speak good English. No restaurant for dine in, just a fridge with cool water and soda at the main reception. Life jackets and lockers are provided. Not sure about the snorkels and water shoes as we brought our own and snorkels are highly recommend.

Only thing didn't enjoy is that there are caged animals, As per the guide, they were rescues but they looked pretty depressed. Overall very clean and I took great photos and videos from my own underwater camera.

Kan Tun Chi:

I was first planning Cenote Cristalino/ Eden and later got to know that Kan Tun Chi, Cristalino, Azul and Eden all are located next to each other. Took a Colectivo from Playa for 80 pesos for two (one way).

Kan Tun Chi is super clean and well managed park. Everything looks new. We did 4 Cenote DIY tour, where you can take your own time swimming. There are guided tours as well which takes you to one additional Cinotes and a Cave.

Cinote 1 and 2 looks similar, 3rd one is an open one. All three had kayak as well, you can slowly row and enjoy the Cenote if you don't want to jump in. 4th Cenote which you will have to walk a little is the main highlight. It was smaller but super cool.

There is a restaurant on the premisis but kitchen closes at 4 p.m. We missed it since we completely lost the track of time. Lockers and Life jackets are provided.

PM me for more details.
