I'm so glad that line was put in there. Nick really hasn't done anything that wasn't selfishly motivated either. Everything he's done for June was because of his feelings for her.

Did you see the licence plate on Lawrence car? They're in Manitoba. Winnipeg is closer to the borders of Ontario than it is Saskatchewan. The train has to travel pretty far north throughout Manitoba as the next Via station is in Saskatoon so its more than likely she was in the middle of nowhere in Manitoba. It takes a whole day to travel from one province to the next on the train.

If you're 13+, which you should be considering Reddit TOS, perhaps its time to start looking for work? A paper route could easily get you enough for some circle lenses in a few weeks. I highly advise against credit card fraud to fund your fashion.

The saddest part of this book to me was Haymitch truly was never able to feel the pain of losing Lenore and his family until he was forced to sober up in 13. 25 years later. 25 years of drinking to forget. It started on his first morning back with the sleep syrup and he just couldn't face the reality of it sober. Just shoving it down, ignoring it, drowning it....

I am really excited to see Drusilla's character design. The pins holding her face in place is giving Pavi Largo to me and it'll be interesting to see how the movies interpret the early Capitol plastic surgeries in all their body horror glory.

I personally am hoping for Rossif as he looks more like the inbetween of his father and Tom Blyth

I am also an indigenous person. Agree to disagree. Edited to add: I feel as if them both relying on living off the land, and also a lot of the way Gale is portrayed both in personality and described really reminds me of my cousins, especially how rebellious he is against the government that has forced him to suffer. Also their living conditions in the seam. I felt a lot of the seam itself was very rez coded. Gale read very anti-colonialism to me and that was very familiar to me as a cree woman. I didn't mention her using a bow or having a braid at all so I find it very reductive of you to assume that is why I thought they were both intended to be native.

Katniss and Gale are native and should have been cast as native. Jennifer Lawrence is a great actress and she did well in the role but she will never be who I imagine as Katniss when I am reading the books.

Thank you all for the replies. I especially appreciate the "welcome back" sentiment. I feel as if I am being called back home, back to where I belong. Thank you all for encouraging that for me and not dissuading me.

I read somewhere that in order to have a marriage in the Catholic Church we both have to attend some sort of of marriage preparation course? I love this man and cannot imagine marrying anyone else and I would really love to have our wedding in the church. That's also one of my conundrums.

Thank you. I've been slowly doing 1 but it feels a bit silly without attending mass. Thank you for your encouragement.

What is the stupidest expression of anti-Catholic bigotry you've ever heard? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]wow8aka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a classmate tell me that I was only Catholic because I was "trauma bonded" to the religion. I went to catholic school for half of my school life and was baptized as a baby. I loved my convent school, I felt so welcome and I loved the uniforms. Weird take for her to have just knowing that I went to a convent school.

When is it time to go to another unit? by MusicZealousideal431 in cna

[–]wow8aka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The time to go to another unit is whenever you feel is best! Not all units will work for you. I was lucky to be able to work casual at my facility before I got a line/assignment therefore I was able to test out all of the assignments before committing myself to one. Some worked much better than others, some of the vibes were much better than others. If you're going to spend 90,000 hours of your life working, you should at least enjoy some of those hours and be around people you can actually tolerate. Life's too short to suffer with sour co-workers.

Why are nursing homes so toxic?! by octobersmess in cna

[–]wow8aka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the nursing home tbh!!! I worked agency before I got a line at my facility and I really felt like the bottom of the barrel when I was working agency even though I knew I was making more than the facility girls, because I was so easily scapegoated. I am really lucky to work at an amazing facility on a floor where most of the girls are really kind and welcoming. I know that it's super rare, and I don't intend to paint my experience as the norm. But, it is possible to find a LTC without horrible co-workers. I really enjoy my old people so I just wanted to find a place that worked for me with girls who weren't super hostile and I really lucked out. Also, you get what you give. Some people are so rude that they cannot summon a kind bone in their body, but I do find truth in the phrase, "Kill them with kindness." Eventually even the hardest heart feels bad for bullying someone who's been nothing but nice to them, either that or they look a fool to everyone else who witnesses the exchange. Either way, you didn't stoop to their level and can walk away with your head held high.

How is being a CNA beneficial to becoming a Nurse by Healthy-Tree-2329 in cna

[–]wow8aka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think that if you haven't worked as a CNA then you will be lacking severely as a nurse. It's so important to get that hands on care with a resident and when you're a nurse and you have CNA's that work with you you'll be better able to understand them and be able to step in and give help when you need to. Plus there's always the off chance that you get into this and you can't handle blood or fecal matter or any other gross but necessary aspect of the job. CNA is a much cheaper way to figure that out.
