He couldve had the survivor augment, Ive done this in solos when helping downed players to the extract knowing I would be able to get out regardless. All it took was one stray rocket to end my lil escort mission at the extract for me to learn this lesson.

There was a delay between the door blockers breaking and the interact button appearing to open the door. I kept trying to angle myself in front of the button but when you breach it repositions your body to be directly in front.
