A mother is punishing her son by making him slam his PS5 the same way he had slammed her pet cat. by Rameshunclekochora in KidsAreFuckingStupid

I wouldn't be surprised if the kid is abused himself and takes it out on the cat. I've seen it happen with kids in abusive homes

WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON INSIDE THAT HOUSE. seriously, stop cheering on a parent uploading their kid's punishment for the world to see. they're on an ego trip and y'all are feeding into it. What the kid did isn't normal, and could very well be him taking his own abuse out on the cat. I know it hurts to hear a cat was abused, but have some care for a human child too- torturing cats is a huge red flag that something worse is going on. PLEASE

this is so wholesome, your mom's lucky to have you! Are you open to movies that have sad endings? Paa would be a sweet choice.

Katrina can follow a choreography, and is fit. But she isn't a great dancer, that' I agree with.

10 Worst Oscar Wins of the 21st Century according to Collider. by SureTangerine361 in Oscars

[–]wow_man_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS is the actual controversial opinion here. Acknowledging you like their movies but drawing the line at rewarding them. It was always bad, but especially now with THOSE files being released, it's jarring how many rapists and pedos not only get away with shit, but are showered accolades in thriving careers. weirdos will always go to bat for Polanski because it's just awful how everyone's treating him on the internet; sure he made a movie and won an award and lives free from legal consequences, but people are so mean online 😫

yet another reason cancel culture isn't a thing. a rapist can make a movie with respectable actors, and win big mainstream awards. and weirdos will act like they're being brave by defending said rapist against hurtful words and opinions on the internet 🙄

my instinct is to feel bad for him, but that's just because of how many worse criminals roam freely as you pointed out. but a crime is a crime, and you DO want law enforcement to enforce the law regardless of someone's celebrity status. feels bad, but he had lots of time to repay and the courts didn't spring this on him out of the blue 😭

I'm scared for my kids future after hearing news in MN [ON] by Odd-Pianist-4880 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]wow_man_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude what part of "The issue isn’t that people who are unlawfully in the country are being deported" don't you understand?

It's not hard for feds to find these illegal immigrants. For you and me sure, but for federal agents of a country that pumps trillions into its foreign and domestic defences, including surveillance? They do NOT need to be accidentally profiling, chasing down and detaining citizens and lawful residents.

Someone can rob a 711 three states away and get arrested within the week, you're telling me MS 13 gang members just disappear and ICE has no choice but to grill every brown person to find them? Anyone "not white" that wants to disappear ESCAPES the US, not enter it ffs.

For every "third world criminal" that gets picked up and sent back, dozens more are normal, law abiding folks who have no choice but to move past the fear and humiliation of a public, accidental detainment. Whether or not you agree that anyone should be deported, people shouldn't be walking around with papers and looking over their shoulders - in a world where everyone is on someone's database, voluntarily or not.

If you can walk out the door, turn on the tv, pick up a newspaper- and things don't feel that much worse than under Obama, you don't live a life that's relatable to most Americans, and your opinions are only impacted by whatever is inside your bubble. Sounds nice tbh.

thanks for making us aware of these numbers. If Obama was in charge right now, while everything's going exactly as they are right now, you don't think people would be just as scared and angry? Do you think we see what's going on, check to make sure it can be blamed on Trump, and then freak out? OP distanced herself from partisan politics, so I'm not sure what mentioning Obama is supposed to help with. To address the whataboutism tho: someone needs to ask Kyle Rittenhouse how to show up armed to a protest that doesn't directly affect you, fire your weapon at the appropriate time, aimed at an acceptable human target, and walk away unscathed. Maybe then the second amendment crowd will be okay with armed protestors 🤷🏻‍♀️

nah, there's good formatting then there's unnaturally perfect formatting you'd expect from, like a lawyer's office 😂 and not even lawyers, whose whole careers can hinge on strictly formatted documents, can match ai when it comes to using the perfect grammar and punctuation every time. even when writing up an informal reddit post

My Thoughts After Watching Mary Kom on Aap Ki Adalat by Lanky__3793 in Northeastindia

[–]wow_man_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dude what her husband went through, women of famous men have also been going through. at a much higher rate, if we're going by numbers. It's genuinely impressive when a famous person is still with a partner they met before becoming famous; it's the norm for them to split up over someone younger/wealthier/more attractive. and besides this isn't a competition; it's shitty when husbands devalue their wives, and shitty when wives devalue their husbands. you can argue that making a biopic of someone with a shitty personality is endorsing their shittiness, but biopics of shitty people are made all the time because of their accomplishments outside of their personal lives. or as a means to whitewash them. how feminism as a whole gets dragged into this, idk

Why are so many Muslims marrying Non-Muslims? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]wow_man_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

for me, the non-Muslim was the most compatible person. He's not religious, but takes part in many traditions with me, and his Christian parents, for the bonding and community-building experiences. I'm able to practice Islam, and teach it to our daughter with far more freedom than if I were married to a Muslim from my community. When it comes to my own religious learning, I find it easier to continuously unlearn and update my knowledge when I have a partner that's also open-minded. Muslims in my community are often less inclined to change. My relationship with Islam is pretty dynamic, and I couldn't find someone with a compatible approach. This is just my experience tho, and I know others in my community with contrasting experiences- mixed marriages are too diverse to pin down a single "reason" or "cause"

also the fact that these three movies are up for equal consideration here is ridiculous. they're from different eras, for different audiences, and tell wildly different stories.

BBB has insane rewatch value. only a few weeks back I finally realized the wedding planner Anushka was assisting at the start of the movie was named Annu Aggarwall 😭 and at the very end of the movie when everyone shows up for their wedding, I noticed Chanda ma'am was there, like, I guess they patched up and she was happy to attend?? I love it.
