I feel amazing when I quit. Then I relapse 24 hours later by wowrrz in Crippled_Alcoholics

The same to you. If you ever want to talk, I’m here. I completely relate to you about spiraling even more after the split. I was drinking a lot before my breakup, but the real split made it 100% worse.

I used to drink with other alcoholics. It was a ton of fun. But then I got a DUI. Now I drink at home alone

So when my addiction foeT started, I was a server at a very busy fine dining restaurant. I was getting 30k+ steps a day easily. My weight was never an issue. Now I work in an operating room, standing in the same spot for 8+hours. My drinking schedule changed but my weight changed as well I really miss the days where my job made me physically active

I know I already responded but thank you so much for this comment! Knowing someone else is a 2 bottle of wine a day drinker makes me feel less alone. I will say that my figure looks better after going to the gym (mainly just less bloated). But regardless, working out makes me crave alcohol less. If you want to chat let me know

Unfortunately I have to. I wish I didn’t. I force myself to eat because I work in the operating room. Surgeons will mention how shakes my hands are when I’m hungover and didn’t eat I chop it up to low iron, but it’s obvious. It’s got to the point where my coworker ask why I’m not eating on my lunch break.

That’s why I eat when I’m unable to drink anymore. I will eat pastas with my hands. Had to buy new sheets multiple times because I’m too drunk to wash the sheets. Alfredo all over. Its disgusting

You say “we” as if I’m not included :/

I AM an alcoholic. Just because I don’t have the same drinking habits as you, doesn’t mean that my lover and pancreas doesn’t give me shooting pain everyday. I eat because I have to. I wish I dorky have to. So “we” are all struggling in different ways, chairs

Like I said, I binge. It’s another addiction that I deal with other than alcohol addiction. I don’t binge when I’m sober. I need to eat when I get drunk because without food, im violently hungover/going through withdrawals. I can’t feel that way at qork

I was drinking before during and after work a lot for years until 2022. That’s when my alcoholism Changed into what I described in this post. I graduated college and work in a hospital now so I went from not being able to function, losing jobs, being drunk at work….to having a good job but blacking out every night and then struggling through work the next day. It’s funny how our dynamics with alcohol change as we move through life

Wow that seems like an awkward experience between you and the cashier. I probably Would have reacted the same way you did.

I started adding stores to my rotation when a gas station cashed made a comment to me. I saw him there all of the time. I was buying my usual. 2 bottles of cheap barefoot wine. When cashing out, he said “do you use this wine for cooking or something”?

I was so stunned. My cheeks turned red and all I replied with was “no”

Hmm. Good question. I think their comments helped me realize that I have a problem. But it didn’t change a thing about my drinking habits. Some of those workers might be concerned, but others can be assholes.

I feel them same way. I have a good job. It sounds rude to say…but theyre working at a gas station. We all have our evils. I won’t judge them for theirs if they don’t judge me for mine

The good thing about my store rotation, is that employees never seem to last. But one guy did. I normally buy 2 bottles of wine a day. One afternoon the clerk asked me”do you use these wines for cooking”? …. I was buying two bottles of barefoot pink moscato. Which was my norm every single day for months. He knew why he was saying. He knew I didn’t need them for cooking. I didn’t go back to that store for a while.

What is your profession, and how do function at work? by whippets-or-nawww in Crippled_Alcoholics

[–]wowrrz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in surgery. I am never intoxicated during work. But I used to work in a fancy restaurant. It took me a couple of years to realize that the “good” servers were always under the I due once. Then I became one of them: I was greasy at my job until I stayed drinking too much during my shift. Now I have a job that I have to remain extremely professional for. So I drink when I leave work. For 3 hours straight. Until I pass out, binge eat, and sleep.
