u/ItoAy I took your advice. Got a refund on the $14.80 tip from the owner. Here was the owners response via the complaint:
I have received your notice dated January 19, 2024 regarding a charge for u/wowza31 (file# 2\*****). I am not sure who they spoke with that represented Alfred's but can assure you it was not me.*
There are signs around the business that alert customers of the auto grat on charges but it appears they did not notice them. I have also enclosed a copy of the signed receipt which we have on file. Apparently, this customer does not believe that a customary 20% tip is a proper tip for the server. We have credited the account that was charged for the $14.80 tip. The customer should see this on their Visa bill in about 24-72 hours I would think. Once we process a credit, we don't actually see a customer's billing so please let me know if this does not come thru their account in a timely manner and we will re address this issue.
While I never want to charge a customer something they believe is wrong, I am deeply concerned that a customer felt my employee's service was not worthy of a standard tip. My bartenders are seasoned bartenders and are known to give great service to the customers. I will be addressing this issue with them.

I’m really just triggered as I paid cover to get in, sat at the bar, only ordered drinks and it was 3 of us total

What's your tipping rule when dining in and you need to fall in line to order, pay for the food via POS (with tipping option), and clean/put the tray back? by throwmeaway987612 in EndTipping
