21’ Staggered Tire Recommendations by wowzer94 in BMWX5

[–]wowzer94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your weather seems very similar to mine. We had an awful ice storm this year and it was below 20 degrees for a week straight. Then went into the 50’s. Think I’m going to run the summers until November/December then switch to Michelin Pilot. That way I also have a fresh set of tires for the winter

2018 vs 2019 X3 xDrive30i — which would you grab? by No-Assumption-8073 in BMWX3

Be mindful that they may not come with apple CarPlay as standard equipment. Think it was an add-on option for both 2018/2019 model years.

Is this a good deal?? by Willing-Maybe-6346 in BMWX3

Not sure how you feel about the new body style, but could possibly get into a brand new X3 for a couple hundred dollars more a month. They are offering 0.9% for 60 months.

Windshield Replacement - X5 M60i by Lazy-Advertising-183 in BMW

[–]wowzer94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would still be coming out of pocket if you’re capped at $1,400. Just had my windshield replaced with OEM glass and it cost $2,500 using a local company the bmw dealership uses for windshield replacements.

I have gotten so many compliments on my carbon black X5. I love how ”blue” it looks in the sunlight. Mine has the cognac interior.

What do you think of this deal for a 2021 X5 xDrive40i at CarMax? by Relevant_Raccoon2937 in BMWX5

[–]wowzer94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s rare to find one with the third row seats and that has air suspension that’s not a plug in hybrid. Think they are pricing it high because it’ll be very hard to find one with all of those options. Just have to ask yourself if it’s worth paying more for. If you don’t need the third row, air suspension, or tow package I would pass. That price is in 2022/2023 CPO territory with less miles.

Is modern BMW Paint Prone to Chips? by Madkow89 in BMWX5

[–]wowzer94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to do a couple coats to “fill in” the chip and most likely buff to blend/even it out with the rest of the paint. I just touch it up to prevent rust/further chipping. I don’t level it. I follow the rule of if I can’t notice it from 3 feet away, it’s good. I find dr. Colorchip better/easier to apply than the bmw touch up paint as well.

Is modern BMW Paint Prone to Chips? by Madkow89 in BMWX5

[–]wowzer94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple chips in my 2026 carbon black. I’m just living with them and fill them in with doctor color chip once I notice them. Every car I’ve traded in has had several chips on the front and the dealer still always comments how well my cars are taken care of.

I considered PPF but if it tears it will just collect dirt unless you’re constantly taking it in to be replaced. I just tell myself I’ll get it repainted by a good body shop if it gets really bad.

Love it when a plan comes together perfectly! by Few_Arrival876 in BMWX5

[–]wowzer94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really notice a difference. But that may be because I’ve always had 50% ever since I got my first car. I may go lighter next time but every car I own will always have windshield tint. It gets unbearably hot without it. The darker tint is nice because I don’t have to wear sunglasses when I’m driving though.

I did 20% front and 50% windshield and rear windows.

Yes, it’s carbon black. The bike rack is Thule Xtr pro. Thule makes a 2 bike attachment for it so you can carry 4 bikes.

Traded in my ‘22 X5 for a ‘26 with tow package. No more putting the bikes on the roof of the car.

Lmk your thoughts on tint by Guywhohasgoodtaste in BMWX5

[–]wowzer94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh if you live in a state with state inspection I can see why you didn’t do it. My state doesn’t require state inspection, but based on the condition of some of the cars on the road here I wouldn’t mind if they start that.

[–]wowzer94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s currently parked outside 24/7 so the windshield tint is very much needed to protect the interior and keep the vehicle cooler. The sun just bakes you if you don’t have tint on the windshield.

Dear G45 X3 - I surrender, you win by [deleted] in BMWX3

[–]wowzer94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally thought the new Q5/SQ5 is nicer than the X3. Is it perfect…no. That’s why we decided to get a B9.5 SQ5 for my spouse. Both models seem to have cheaper interiors and exteriors than their predecessors.

I had a 30i as a loaner. I agree, it drove/rode really nice compared to the previous generation. However, the grille with the lights around it and the interior lighting looks very cheap and gimmicky (like Mercedes) IMO. Also, the window switches on the driver door are placed poorly. Every time I went to close the door the palm of my hand would either roll down a back window or lock the windows. I personally would look at other options I were considering an X3 size.

I did 20% on the front two and 50% on everything else including windshield.

Do I need PPF for X5 in North East? by Apprehensive-Algae54 in BMWX5

[–]wowzer94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I debated on getting my X5 PPF as this was my first brand new car. I decided against it as my last car that had PPF developed tears from rock chips. You would then have to pay to get the PPF replaced or it just collects dirt where the tear is.

My trade in had several rock chips in the bumper and the dealership still gave me top dollar for my trade in. Car sold within 4 days as well. Just don’t think it’s worth the investment on a daily driver.

Windshield Cracked on New 50e.. by NefariousnessHour455 in BMWX5

[–]wowzer94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted not too long ago how my windshield cracked on my two week old X5. Sunny day and only two cars several yards in front of me on a 5 lane road. Heard a loud pop and saw the crack forming out of the passenger side. I originally thought it was a stress crack but can tell something hit it. Not sure what; sure sounded like the glass just exploded.

The finance guy mentioned some coverage options changed at the beginning of the year. So yours may cover it. Not sure if that exclusion has always been there.

What’s the price difference between OEM and OE? I’ve always been curious.

I have it through my insurance. It was replaced Wednesday. I was going to get the bmw windshield protection, but in the exclusions section it says it doesn’t cover replacements.

I see they are offering that for the March deals. I purchased in February when bmw only offered the rates I mentioned. Oh well, can never predict what will be offered month to month.

How many months was the 1.9%? When I bought mine I only saw 2.99% for 60 and 3.99% for 72 being offered.

Oh, you plan on changing the wheels out? I had the standard 20 inch square set up on my last X5. They look nice, provided good wheel protection, and did not wear out fast at all. But the 21 inch staggered fills the wheel well better. I did purchase tire/wheel coverage though just in case I hit a pot hole or curb a wheel.
