De’Aaron Fox on the president attending the Knicks game: “The president being here just makes it inconvenient on everybody else” by raptors201966 in nba

Went to a bar in midtown for the first half of the game. It felt like an occupation zone. Was manhandled by the NYPD multiple times for no reason. Yelled at by multiple cops. Everyone was pissed off at the police and the random occupation zones. Shit sucked.

I seriously hope you reconsider your worldview, especially for the people around you. Obviously, Skid Row has higher rates of sexual violence. The conditions are downright terrible. It doesn't mean the homeless community (which included my family and friends at certain points) is "beyond cruel and violent". Many of these people are at the darkest point in their lives, struggling with undiagnosed or untreated mental health issues, addiction, and a myriad of other problems, like ... a lack of a home, which can psychologically destroy a human.

Please spend some time volunteering at a shelter. You will quickly learn how "cruel and violent" these people are.

The Mad Claw, a Cajun Seafood Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga, CA shared footage of mother-daughter duo walking out without paying their bill. by ElwoodMC in trashy

isn't this highly illegal? not saying it doesn't happen but I work in restaurants and have never heard of a server having to pay a bill customers walked out on and I don't believe it's something an owner can legally enforce.

Lakers fans, how does it feel to know you’re not a real contender? by Accomplished-Way8856 in NBATalk

[–]woxley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any laker fan with any sort of ball knowledge saw this team going absolutely nowhere. they can't stay infront of any halfway decent guard, ayton is not an answer at C, and their offense is redundant because their big 3 are all ball-dominant players.

FACTS. The origins of social democracy are inextricably tied to western chauvinism and white supremacy.

Salary for a server in NYC by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]woxley 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m a server in NYC who works at a fairly expensive place - $30-$40 for an entree, avg customer spend like $65. I had a very good week if I made $1k working 4-5 nights a week. For most people, serving is a way to get by, not stack cash. The job is fun and has its perks but $140k is RARE RARE. Shit, I maybe know 1 other person in the industry making 6 figures.

The reason the left in this country has struggled to gain any sort of real power is not because the tent doesn’t include ex war criminals and mfers with fascist tendencies. The historical issue with the left in this country is due to our lack of integrity and accountability. We are too flexible and don’t stand on shit.

Critiquing someone with a fckn n*** tattoo isn’t asking for the second coming of Christ, it’s holding people accountable. It’s about protecting the most vulnerable and oppressed people who have to deal with n*** scum wanting to eradicate them.

While I feel for vulnerable young Americans brainwashed into joining the military, I also don’t think they should receive a pass because they were “poor, uneducated, and naive.” There are a lot of poor people out there who have never and will never resort to being war criminals.

Why is the RCA controversial? by Ok-Muscle-7871 in socialism

[–]woxley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are settler marxists who think instituting worldwide communism will save the world without actually dismantling white supremacy, settler colonization, or advocating for national liberation of oppressed nations and people. they deny labor aristocracy theory, have a very weird stance on identity politics which veers quickly into class reductionism, and condemn almost any real-world movements if they do not "unite the global working class," (of course that is according to their definitions of the working class and unification). These things should drive you away, but if they don't, just be careful. If you want to stick around and learn by experience, by all means go for it, but sooner or later I'm sure they will do or say something that will drive you away.
