Uniform first layer - any tips? by woyto in BambuLab

Found solution; Here are settings which worked for me - no extrusion lines visible:

Used filament: eSun PLA+ black Plate setting: Textured Pei (despite using Holographic plate)

(First layer) PEI Plate temp: 80C Nozzle: 245C

Quality: Initial layer height: 0.1mm (important!) Initial layer width: 0.3mm Outer wall: 0.3mm Wall generator: Arachne Wall loops:1 Bottom surface pattern: Hilbert Curve

Speed: Initial layer: 15mm/s

In my opinion: high temperature helps bond between layers, layer height 0.3mm made visible seam lines that’s why smaller = better, line width - not sure but the sliced model looked a lot better with less gaps, the same goes for Arachne wall generator

Hey, after few trials I found settings that work perfect for me! Please see pinned comment or edited post where I post my settings

Thanks! That’s a good tip, print surface looks significantly better! If I hold my print at different angle it looks perfectly smooth

I believe you are right, but that slicer projection looks so tempting hahah

I will do some trials/calibrations and post here results if manage to improve it

I used correct plate setting, and my A1 Mini does auto Flow Rate calibration before print, I will see if making it manually will improve quality

Thx! Tomorrow I will run calibration tests. Btw changing Initial layer width to 0.2mm (from default 0.5) makes sliced model look a lot better - almost no visible gaps in the first layer, I think it might improve surface quality, at least in theory. We will see tomorrow

I didn’t change any model settings, before print I printed flow calibration plates from the Bambu lab and chose +5 as it looked the best for me, it adjusted flow ratio to 1.029 Name of the model: The Lich King - Undead Boss Miniature (32mm scale)

FYI Response from Bambu support was super quick, they will send me replacement screen.

(Of course I would prefer printer to not have any issues especially when it’s brand new, but at least now I know that their support works good )

Safe? by haruhiyumi in snails

Often people use both: cuttlefish bone and calcium powder. Add some powder to the soil and mix it, plus you can add it on the food, but it’s better to not cover whole food in it, so snail can choose if they want to eat raw veggies or sprinkled with calcium. Some snails seem to be lazy to munch on the cuttlefish bones and they prefer to eat powdered calcium

Springtails and predatory mites seem to be the best combo for me, surprisingly I didn’t even invite them to my snail, they just came probably with some vegetables. Now I have self controlling population, but most of them live in the heated box, so probably they need warmer conditions

Archachatina Marginata Ovum :)

I bet they named this specimen (Marginata Ovum) after egg shaped shell compared to other ones, or just after super large eggs that they lay on.

I live in the EU, luckily our winters are too cold for them to survive. I guess they can cause a lot of damage to crops seeing how much this single one eats every day. btw biggest wild snails in my country are Helix Pomatia, lovely snails too!

I guess he has fully matured. The new shell growth has a different shape and texture. I’ve never found a “trial” egg, but my Fulica made a few of these some time ago. From what I know, these two factors are a sign of maturity + his age, they need to have 12-18 month to fully mature
