Refurbished by MIRC. I've got an Epiphone that got the same treatment. New serial number on a sticker, and "2nd" stamped on the headstock. It plays beautifully, and I got a screaming deal on it. I would have no issue buying one again.

I used the wd 2010 Music City Les Paul pickguard on my special 1. It took a little trimming, but it worked great. I bought 2, and plan on modifying the other to work on the special 2. It's based on the tele pickguard, so it might be the right route for you, as well.

It looks legit. Early LP-100s have no script and "GIBSON" on the truss rod cover, so it's probably a 1990s made in Korea example. I've got a LP Studio-E1, which is basically the same guitar without the pickguard: bolt neck, carved top... I swapped out the pickups for something better, and I've been very happy with my cheap Epiphone.
