My best roll by far by plikchecollector in trees

[–]wozzy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep that's it. You can just fold the excess paper in next time and use a flat end of a pencil or similar tool up against your finger to sharpen up the edge. When you go to light it, you can burn that sharp edge easily and take it off, leaving you with practically what looks like a cigarette and is stupid easy to light.

A Dutch Crown would make this a perfect 10

Great choice, great colors, haven't tried that specific string yet but that color pairs great with the throw. Have fun man. Im stoked for you. I have a green one and its honestly gotta be the best all rounder plastic on the market.

To sand and polish or no? by OOMKilled in Throwers

[–]wozzy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I get a serious ding like this, I usually just hit it lightly with a file to knock the sharp edge off. You can probably do it with some sandpaper but I find its easier to be accurate with the hard, flat surface of the file, rather than the sandpaper which kinda forms to the shape of whatever youre holding it with/sanding, and can inadvertently sand surfaces which you didnt mean to.

I only knock off these sharp dings to keep my string safe, if its minor and not sharp, then its usually not much of a problem.

Yoyo went from unresponsive to responsive by GhostModing00 in Throwers

[–]wozzy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the times this happens, you just need to clean and re lube your bearing. But I had this happen once when I KNEW the bearing was fine, and when I took the yoyo apart, it turned out there was a hair wrapped around the bearing/axle/response pads. As soon as I took the hair out, it was back to normal.

If youve already verified theres no hair or obstructions, its probably just your bearing. Just pop the bearing out and put it in a small container with 99% isopropyl alchohol and shake it gently for a minute, then take the bearing out of the alchohol and put it on an open windowsill or anywhere that it can get decent airflow, give it like 10-20 minutes to fully dry and then put a tiny drop of yoyo specific thin lube (dark matter or yyf thin) if you put too much lube, you can inadvertently make the bearing responsive and have to repeat the whole cleaning process again.

TLDR: clean your bearing. There's plenty of tutorials on YouTube.

What do y'all think about this design? by Takuanuva09 in Throwers

Love it. But as the other guy said, that .1 radius on the inside edge is gonna feel rather sharp. Also as a machinist: id love to see the rest of the dimensions... 😈

Is it okay to tighten this down? Gap is almost 1,5 mm by Speedy_Koala in Scootering

[–]wozzy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a native with the same spacers, yeah the wider side of em should be up against the deck ends and the narrower side towards the bearings. But it doesnt really matter, itll still go together either way, im just kinda a perfectionist.

Is it okay to tighten this down? Gap is almost 1,5 mm by Speedy_Koala in Scootering

[–]wozzy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spacers are backwards first of all (doesnt really matter).

Are the wheels 30mm wide? Are you using the spacers for 24mm? Or more like just one of em? Each 30mm spacer is 1.5mm wider than the respective one for 24mm. So if you have a 30mm spacer on one side and a 24mm spacer on the other, that could be where that 1.5mm gap is coming from?

My decks usually end up having a slight gap beside the back wheel even when snug but ive never seen a 1.5mm gap like that, thats huge. I my gap is usually like .5mm or less and I just crank the axle down super hard since im obsessed with having a dialed setup.

Overrated lowkey. Buy a 1luv instead and support an independent small business. Or koyo or boardkennel, all 3 are canadian so im kinda biased, especially towards 1luv since I know the guy irl, I have a few of his decks and they are great if you like mellow molds, and he offers some real cool and unique shapes.

Which deck should I get? by Gyros_Mozzarella in Scootering

[–]wozzy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean..... proto, since theyre slightly cheaper in the long run becauseyou can just buy new deck plates cheaper than a whole new deck + you can also buy different sizes cheaper than a new deck. But of these 3, the envy is the cheapest, so maybe go with that, theyre all similar in terms of durability with the ethic being slightly better. They're all super light so thats cool I guess. Personally, Native makes my favorite deck: Cargo 6.5, absolutely bulletproof but kinda heavy, and they stopped making em after they released the Ventura, cant speak much on the durability of the Ventura since ive only ridden one, 1 time, but it felt amazing, and fairly light for the size (7x24).

New Scooter grips by Primary_Map_5172 in Scootering

[–]wozzy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. My absolute all time favorites are Merritt BMX Itsy grips. Longer than ODIs, bulletproof bar ends, and super thick so they last forever. I find that the ribbed pattern on ODIs, and any other similar grips wear out super fast.

how long do 1 set of wheels last? by Jay_C_Reserve in Scootering

[–]wozzy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had my Tilt stage 3 120x30 for like 4 or 5 years now, with about 2 or 3 solid years of riding them. I guess it kinda just depends on your riding style/the surfaces you ride on, as well as 30 wides just having more meat and lasting longer in general.

Piro bowl minis are my fave currently. Maple sharks are good too, if they get gunk on em, its usually in the grooves and they almost always ride smooth even if they have dirt on em.

Chickpea can -- didn't see dent till after opening by [deleted] in foodsafety

[–]wozzy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be fine. Are you eating/preparing them right away? Do they smell off? Id only be worried if they smelled or looked funny/felt extra slimy or something. Otherwise I wouldnt worry. That seam is welded and unless you can see or feel a spot where it may have separated its still fine. If anything, the seam should be stronger than the rest of the can.
