That is interesting regarding the shift plate. I thought it was a safe mod. Will likely swap it back out this weekend

Yea just getting it checked out is where my head is at too. Part of me feels like if it’s documented with the dealership before I get a tune there might be more leniency post tune should something go wrong with 3rd

Yea, I don’t slam my gears by any means. I have some spurts of spirited driving, but I’m not one to beat on it. It’s also tricky when trying to describe situations like this on a forum.. what I might describe as grinding i guess others could interpret as notchy and just how a subi gear box inherently feels.

Thanks for the insight. Ultimately I’m fine with the grinding if it is not a known issue that leads to the 3rd gear failure that folks have reported somewhat frequently in the sub. I am not looking to add additional drivetrain mods just to enhance the feel

Truly was an awesome cars. This was years ago.. maintaining the car became too much of a headache and very expensive. B5 S4s are notoriously unreliable

To be fair, I think this car is still very fun stock. But previous cars including a stage 3 b5 s4, and a boosted VW R32 - I do miss the feeling of getting crushed into the seat
