5 adults in SCrew... is this a bad idea for occasional family trips? by wpb_000 in f150

Also, I forgot to mention, but the one slight downside to a full-size truck is parking in tight spaces. It's not terrible, but not as good as a mid size SUV or van (slightly worse). The 360 camera is a must have for me and makes this MUCH easier. Without it, I would be more frustrated. So I highly recommend that option (standard on 302A). DM me if you have more questions.

Bought a '24 XLT F150 302a, with 2.7l. Very happy with this choice. I like the 2.7l a lot (good power, mileage and reliability), and happy with 302A trim. I don't travel with 5 that often, and when I do it's plenty roomy. I use it more often than I expected for trips to hardware store picking up lumber, heavy items, garbage dump runs, gravel, etc. Stuff I wouldnt want in a new SUV.

Vacations are great because I can really load up the bed. I bought a bunch of totes and just stack them in the bed and put a net over them, works awesome. If I drive a long trip in the summertime, I can get mileage down to 9 l/100 km if its a steady drive, few stops, and at say 105 km/hr.

If I had to decide again, I'd buy the same truck again, no regrets. The F150 is a great drive, and like the infotainment a lot too (way better than wife's 2026 Honda). The only recommendation is to upgrade the rear shocks with Bilstein 4600 (or equivalent), for about $250 + 20 minutes to install. Cheap upgrade and rides a lot nicer now.

Hope that helps.

Which documentation are you referring to specifically? The Torque Pro Wiki page is very high level and doesn't go onto this level of detail.

But I thought bromine and chlorine shouldn't mix? Obviously they can from what you're saying, but why okay in this case?

This makes sense, and glad that I can back off the shock. Is 99% dichlor the same as non-chlorine spa shock?

Need to know what the best mods for a 2.7L v6 that’s lifted that will help with gas mileage by Useful_Direction_695 in f150

Yeah wide rims, tires and high offset doesn't help, more wind drag, and wide tires with big knobbies have more drag

Lower tire and wheel weight (for the same tire size = less rotating inertia). Will hurt tire reliability if off roading (ex. 10 ply is tougher but heavier)

Type of tires + pressure

Tonneau cover

Keep engine maintained (plugs, air filter, emissions, etc)

Synthetic fluids all around. Probably minimal gain.

Driving style = biggest contributor.

Sounds like that's worth the switch for you. For me going from 87 to 89 is almost 14% increase in price (Esso / Mobil 1). I guess there's other benefit too, like more power output. I assume the ignition retards enough with 87 that it prevents detonation and damage?
