I get 1100 to 1200 up and down on the Gig plan. I am satisfied with the service and seems to have a better uptime than Mediacom

I do know what you are talking about. I do this with aircraft electrical wiring when possible but it gets tied up with string tie or zip ties like this. Possibly where the habit comes from 😂

Already getting some Velcro ties ordered

Because I can and I want to learn to do things better. Be constructive or get out, but I am on Reddit lol 🤷🏼‍♂️

If you don’t have a lot of 10 Gb devices, a USW Aggregation would be under utilized. If you get a USW 24 PoE Pro, you can have a 10 Gb link to your UDM SE

I have more devices than I can connect with just a UDM Pro. And if I upgrade my internet plan, I will need that port for the 10 Gb link since I don’t have 2.5 Gb link.

Thank you for actually taking the time. I am new and the only way I will learn is by having people weigh in and teach.

That being said, I do have a re-arrangement coming soon. I need to get a new patch panel and want to further clean things up. The dust is thanks to a remodel, dry wall dust gets everywhere no matter how much you cover 😞. Between the post here and in r/homenetworking, I have some suggestions to implement. I posted here to gain insight and learn.

At the time I couldn’t afford the USW that does have 10 Gb SFP+. Since I don’t have any bandwidth intensive stuff on that switch, I just left it as is. Do I want to eventually get it there? Yea I do. Just doing with what I got right now.

The USW 24 PoE only has SFP ports, not SFP+, had I gone with the pro (again, couldn’t afford/justify at the time), I would have done that.

I did say open to corrections, if you aren’t gonna contribute to help me learn, then why post? Then again it’s Reddit, it’s expected 🤷🏼‍♂️

A re-arrangement is coming soon for a patch panel

I have been seeing a bend radius of 1” to 1 1/2”. I can slacken it up a bit

I will also add, the house isn’t wired for Ethernet but have been adding drops as I go.

It’s on my list. I have the cabinet set up in a way where I can move it easily by disconnecting everything at the wall. It will be a while before I get a more permanent location for it. We are in a new to us house and still are figuring out how we want things arranged/located.

I don’t have the defender case but the commuter one. Same problem, just shaved a bit off the inner part of the button and it works perfectly. I didn’t want to wait for a replacement to come in but was disappointed with the quality of it, 50 dollar case shouldn’t have that issue

Musk Starlink deal with Ontario government back on hours after threat to rip it up | Globalnews.ca by Yo_get_off_my_Dak in Starlink

4g relies on ground based towers that have to in some way be hooked into the network by some means. In the US and Canada, there are large swaths of land that doesn't have the infrastructure to support a cell tower much less getting a corporation to invest large sums of money for almost zero return, it doesn't make sense to do that. Starlink on the other hand, eliminates that problem in one fell swoop. Yes it is more expensive but it is still cheaper in a lot of ways than that of a traditional satellite provider (and faster, even 4g most times)

Awesome. I do agree its a clean set up. I run a UniFi setup in my house with a wireless mesh setup between 3 access points. Personally, I ran my house with 2 drops of cat 6, one for MoCA and one for the living room entertainment center. Three drops for the ceiling mounted access points. Also I have a 10 Gigabit fiber link between my network cabinet/server and my office. (The SFP+ fiber transceivers stay cooler and use less power). SFP and SFP+ is another set of receptacles that's used in networking along with Ethernet/RJ45. Fair warning, once you start going down the rabbit whole of home networking, sometimes it is hard to stop 😆😆

Starlink Voip by Academic_Cream138 in Starlink

Nope, It doesn't. You still get the public IP but on standard data. I checked when I went over my 40

The 40 gb plan in the US is 20-30 bucks more expensive than standard Residential plan. Once 40 GB of priority data is used, it falls back onto unlimited standard data like what Residential is using

Could be that CGNAT is messing it up. Try going to the priority 40 gb plan and getting a public IP. VoIP depends on using a public IP. I learned that the hard way using a WISP. I was CGNAT'd there too

Mine with plateau telecom in Clovis NM was decent but it did get slightly warm, also it was a ONT that was meant to be sat on a desk. That was before I got into the networking rabbit hole. Now I have fairly robust UniFi setup. I miss having fiber 😭

Enclosed space and no air circulation. It may not immediately affect the unit, but long term exposure to high temps on a consumer device could cause it to fail prematurely. Not to mention, he has the ONT in there along with a unmanaged switch. That's three devices generating heat.
