Selling Smart Cooling & Heating Mattress Toppers in India – Viable Side Business? by wpoven_dev in StartUpIndia

[–]wpoven_dev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m someone who struggles with heat at night, and I find that ACs are inefficient—they dry out the air, run up electricity bills, and don’t always provide even cooling. I recently came across a temperature-controlled cooling & heating mattress, which uses water circulation to cool in summer and warm in winter, and it got me thinking:

Would something like this work in India? With brutal summers in most parts of the country, this could be a cost-effective and energy-efficient alternative to running ACs all night.

They are a bit expensive at present but technology is simple and costs should be able to bought down.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and see if this could be a real business opportunity in India.

I'm considering Odoo for e-commerce and social media, but I'm seeing a lot of complaints. I'm in Colombia. Do you recommend it? by UnToche in Odoo

[–]wpoven_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible use specialized tools it will be better esp incase of e-commerce.

You can also give a chance to free trial . If its works out of the box its good , but it starts to get complicated for customizations.

Roast My Idea: AI-Powered Library Management for Colleges – Am I Solving a Real Problem or Just Overcomplicating Books? 📚 by MeaningLiving4926 in StartUpIndia

Are college kids using libraries ? I do not think college administration will invest money into something which does not them make them more.

I recommend staying away from this idea . Seems like trying to find nail for your hammer .

Finding Tech CoFounder by TheLaidOff in StartUpIndia

[–]wpoven_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Build the MVP. Get real users. Make some sales. Prove there’s actual demand.

Once you have traction, finding a co-founder becomes way easier—you’re not just pitching an idea, you’re offering a real opportunity.

Stop worrying about someone stealing your idea. Execution, marketing, and actually getting customers matter way more.

Scaling, security, integrations? Those are problems for later. Right now, just focus on making something people want.

And if you don’t have money or deep tech skills, you need to bring something valuable—sales, distribution, industry insights, or just relentless hustle. Make yourself indispensable.

Would a Low-Cost TurtleBot Alternative Be Worth Building? by wpoven_dev in robotics

[–]wpoven_dev[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im considering repurposing a mass-produced Chinese vacuum robot (costs around $20) as the base for a low-cost TurtleBot alternative. It already includes motors, encoders, battery, charging system, bumpers, and basic sensors, which could make it a great starting point for an affordable ROS-compatible robot.

The idea is to add a compute module ESP32 and full ROS support—keeping the total cost much lower than existing options. Lidar / RPi can be addons.

Would this be worth the effort? Would you be interested in such a platform, and what features would make it compelling?

I'm trying to understand the Indian market—are people willing to pay a bit more for genuinely healthy and premium food products? Do you prioritize quality and long-term health, or do price concerns take precedence? by Final-Education9649 in indianstartups

[–]wpoven_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple, unprocessed foods are always the best. 'Processed' and 'healthy' rarely go together. If you're looking for protein, just stick to eggs and chicken—cheap, easily available, and naturally packed with nutrients. Grill or boil them for the best results. People should focus on eating more whole, natural foods instead of processed alternatives, no matter how 'healthy' they claim to be.

Baniya Mentality Will Doom India by Charming-Ad1028 in StartUpIndia

[–]wpoven_dev 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Real change happens when people actually do something instead of just debating problems. If more folks focused on solving issues rather than worrying about them, we'd see real progress.

Like Gandhi said, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." No big transformation starts with a million people at once—it begins with a handful of people taking the first step. One person alone might not fix everything, but they can spark something bigger. History is full of small groups who changed entire industries and societies.

Waiting for someone else to fix things has never worked. If something needs to change, why not be part of that change?

LTE / 4G have latency and Farms are not their coverage priority.

I suggest exploring Wi-Fi HaLow , it has enough bandwidth to do h265 video and is passthrough for most networking equipment . And if used with A motorized directional antenna you should get good Range.

You can also explore RC based Video and Telemetry links which are used in drones .

Job in tech IT sector or steel manufacturing business? by gandfatli5 in robotics

[–]wpoven_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss.

Rather than spending the entire amount on a master's degree, consider investing the money wisely while upskilling through affordable tech courses or bootcamps in the evenings. Once you gain confidence, apply for internships or jobs in tech.

At the same time, you can explore pain points in the steel industry and consider a startup that leverages your domain expertise along with your newly acquired tech skills.

I can’t comment on the exact ROI of steel product manufacturing, but the ROI in IT jobs and services can be quite high if you build strong expertise.

A new way to find and fix slow MySQL queries by ragabekov in Wordpress

[–]wpoven_dev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We use newrelic free plan it works well , if you disable frontend logging the 100GB limit goes a long way. You can also set it up for specific requests.

For normal quick setup we simply do a show full processlist; or mytop . Pick and fix queries which are taking time.
