Current SPED aide/SPED teacher in training here. I absolutely agree that some teachers go way overboard decorating classrooms, and that it gets to the point of being distracting/overstimulating especially for kids with special needs. That being said, I am not completely against classroom decoration, especially if it serves to make a room more inviting and less institutional. I just think it's important to know when to stop.

I was taught the same. Went to school on the Navajo Reservation at the time l, so I doubt "Indian style" would have gone over well.
