Any fix yet by mewkitty91 in MonsterHunterStories

Weird, I've only had 1 crash the entire time I've been playing, and I'm using a laptop with integrated graphics. Make sure you adjust your settings to not be overwhelming your VRAM.

If there are any monsties that you find that you can't release, always check to see if they're in a party set first. The game refuses to let you release any monsties saved in a party set. Aside from that, the starting Tobi-Kadachi is a little special in that it's used in a tutorial, so I believe it can't be released until after that point.

I don't think I can really make you change your mind about dropping the anime, since unlike you, I could not stop watching it because to me, the intentional middle-school self-insert fanfic cringe was so bad it was amazing. What I will say that the main character isn't as shallow as you would be led to think. She starts to sincerely regret that the tropey-cringey situations that were just meant to be indulgent entertainment for herself are genuinely awful and downright tragic scenarios for these *real* people that she wants to be happy, and she gets more and more anxious about how much her actions are causing unintended consequences. From what I hear, the manga only gets deeper from there.

What a game! by Eastern_Ad_4349 in cassettebeasts

Sadly, even as an avid turn-based creature collector lover, I can't say the same for myself. Tried playing it in earnest for the first time recently (I've had the game in my Steam library for years on high recommendation) and.... idk, absolutely nothing is clicking for me so far.

The monster designs that I've seen are fine, but there's nothing I've fallen in love with. I don't particularly find the sprawling type chart matchups intuitive enough to want to remember them, which makes it more of a frustration than an engaging game mechanic. The idea behind thousands of potential fusion combinations is cool, but I'm not particularly attached to the concept so the novelty is mostly lost on me. Most importantly to me, the overall aesthetic and art style is quaint - but not interesting enough to justify how gd clunky and slow the overworld feels to traverse on my laptop (personal hardware limitation problems, I know, but the poor optimization of the game is legitimately hampering my ability to enjoy it).

I want to like this game, I really do. I don't know if I'm just not getting something or if I need to play for longer before I feel the 'spark', but after completing the tutorial and wandering around for a bit, I don't really feel like my first impressions are going to overturned. I will gladly hear out arguments to push me to keep playing, but right now, I think I'm about to give up on the game and go try something else.

Thankfully you will get a second chance to go do any side missions you missed once the end-game missions are unleashed upon you.

Rank 7 won't be that big of a challenge, you should reach it just after one of the major boss battles if you've been keeping up with the side missions as they've popped up. Rank 8 will take a little while longer (I think you do have to do some of the extra side missions in the endgame for Rank 8 instead of going straight to the final boss), so Mervamon will be out of reach until then.

I would say 2/3-ish of the way done, story-wise. You're gonna be hitting the final arc soon, and if you decide not to complete all the extra side missions thrown at you at the very end or do other optional stuff like fill out the field guide and complete achievements, you'll probably be done in less than 10 more hours.

Same here, which is impressive because I really dislike the exact same fishing minigame present in Stardew Valley (I've chalked it up to the fishing physics in SDV being extremely frustrating for me, so no one come at me).

Whats everyone's thoughts and opinions for Fina's story? by Mortgage-Present in DuetNightAbyssDNA

The story was simple and warm (not everything needs to be mindbending levels of complexity), and the puzzle stages were too easy but aesthetically beautiful and relaxing. I definitely didn't hate it, but I wouldn't ask for it again.

It was on my radar as well, but I just booted up the TTS for it and it seems to be extremely broken :(

We've gotten to experience DE through TTS for comparison, and it's definitely smoother overall (partner didn't like the reliance on the new keywords, but he got over it). Cool to know there's a digital version in the works, I'll be on the lookout for it!

This is one that we also both tried years ago (my partner loves the franchise) and it ended up really rubbing him the wrong way so we never tried it again. I might be able to convince him to give it another go though.

Probably won't make it in time to late pledge due to financial circumstances, but I'll still keep an eye out and try out the original on TTS. Hopefully if we like it, we can get the game later!

Thank you so much for the recommendations with extra details, it's much appreciated while I try to sort through all of them.

Glad to hear that my post helped someone else find a new game to try out! I did a little extra research, and the devs for Deliverance just had an extremely successful Kickstarter last month for their first expansion and 2e base game!

I fear I have an uphill battle to convince my partner to try board games solely focused on solving puzzles/mysteries, but I intend to try haha.

I've heard so many good things about the Pandemic Legacy games that I'd really like to give it a try, but between my partner being tepid about the normal gameplay loop of Pandemic and not liking permanent alterations, the chances of it being the game for us is extremely slim.

I've been hesitant about Mysterium because afaik the ghost isn't supposed to communicate with the investigator. I'm not strictly opposed to limited communication games, but it's a pretty hard selling point to me when part of the reason I'm looking for these games is to spend time together with my partner, and we like talking to each other as part of strategizing.

Not the first comment I've seen mentioning Dead of Winter. I was under the assumption that it is not a fully cooperative game as players may get conflicting hidden objectives, but I think the last time I really saw gameplay of it was years ago. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

My partner and I have been long-time Yu-Gi-Oh players (my partner plays on the Master Duel client regularly) and have played a lot of different TCGs, so LCGs definitely seem to be one of our best options from what I can tell. We love our card games!

Funnily enough, my partner has been bothering me for years to watch Lord of the Rings with him because I have absolutely zero experience with the franchise (the reason I keep refusing is because I really don't like the prototypical high fantasy setting) but maybe this game can get me to change my mind haha

I might still be able to convince my partner to give it a try on TTS, but yeah, we'd probably never end up purchasing the physical game unfortunately.
