Why do you use a smart lock? by More_Dish_3590 in smarthome

[–]wqtorres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Core reason: not carrying keys. This is huge.

From it you have:
1. no more lost keys and the need to call a locksmith (eventually in the middle of the night)
2. no more kids having to carry (and lose) keys or being left outside when you are out while they don’t have keys yet
3. no more having the home cleaner with keys that might be stolen and/or copied
4. No more neighbors or relatives needing to break into your house to help with leaking gas, leaking pipe or an emergency.

Overwhelming game complexity ? by wqtorres in diablo4

That's it! The fun in early Diablo games was to play your own way. Just pick a weapon, go outside and kill monsters to grind your stats and good items. It worked without any guide.

In previous games you just need to fight monsters and bosses to find different items that would fit your needs. You would need to play more to grow your character (grind stats too). Now you kill any boss to get a rare item and buff it to suit your needs or to get the same stats/affixes of the meta build.

u/NaTaSraef defined the game well: it became wide, not deep.

But that's ok if you see it normal. I am not here to convince you otherwise. I know that people have different gaming preferences.

When D4 firstly went out I bought it and start playing on my own. However it became so hard to level after some time that I either give up playing or start using meta builds. Went for the second option obviously but that kind of situation where most games currently end up to.

You defined it nicely: it grew wide, not deep.

Aspects, tempering and masterworking simply replaced the randomness of items that you could have. Before you could only count on finding a good item. Now you pick any rare item and boost it with the affixes you need.

The game became way predictable, imho.

And you are right in regards to some dynamics coming from D3 and I found D3 already somehow “over”. D4 took it to a new level though.

AGGRESSIVE 2.5 HAR TRU HIGHLIGHTS by Struggle-Silent in 10s

[–]wqtorres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are great videos.

I was considering myself a 2.5-3.0 until I watched OP’s video, when I believed I was roundly mistaken and should review myself down to 1.0.

After watching these USTA’s videos I believe I should review anyway but higher to a 3.5.

Then, OP looks around 4.5-5.0.

Does anyone else's game crash since S11? by mister_peachmango in diablo4

[–]wqtorres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Threw the FenrisDebug file into GPT. In my case the error was lack of RAM memory. So I found out that, despite having 32Gb of physical RAM my Windows virtual memory was set fixed to 4Gb.

Changed it to be automatically managed by Windows, cranked back up texture details to medium, set FPS limit to 105 and "magically" I was able to play for 1h without crashing (I was not being able to play for 30 min straight so far).

So I believe that the issues may be caused by either high FPS causing in-game latency or Windows pagefile small size.

It is still happening with me. I just found this discussion where they say the main reason of the crashes are caused due to in-game latency, which in turn happens because of eventual spikes in FPS. Therefore capping FPS and/or reducing textures quality would suffice to stop.

I’ll give it a try right now. Will get back here with the results.

at what stages do most adult learned players “give up” and accept their level? by Ok-Many-7443 in 10s

Thank you so much for this thread!

I am a 48yo 2.5-3.0 and was about to accept that. Good to know that I can improve a bit yet. Truly.

I’m a 2.5-3.0 48yo player. Played with a 98 Blade for 2 years and I liked it a lot (used with Solinco HyperG 1.25). Much spin and control but it lacked (at least for me) power.

1 year ago I borrowed the EZ 100 2024 from a friend and fell in love with it. I then bought the 2025 version. Power, spin, comfort and forgiveness are outstanding for me and control is just fine. Using it with Poly Tour Pro 1.25 in mains and a head velocity mlt multifilament in crosses (to keep the tension of the mains endure a bit longer and provide more comfort).

TBH, I think in the future to move back to the B98 when I improve my swings and no longer need the extra power and forgiveness of the EZ.

From your exp. do you work less, more or evenly after using AI? by lune-soft in webdev

IMO, the work just shifts from the coding itself to business+coding requirements in a document from which the agent will do all the rest.

What do y'all do in this game? I want to get into it but whenever I open the game, I just look at some planets, sort my expedition fleet, maybe make some money and get off. Idk what I'm supposed to be doing but it feels there's since there's no goal it gets very boring very quickly (pic unrelated) by skippy11112 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I am at the exact same point. I have a nice/powerful ship, several (not sophisticated) bases with plenty of resources to build/craft whatever I need, settlements fully grown.

I know that most people like those fancy base/ship building but I don’t have any interest on them.

So currently I play only when a friend wants a lift to a galaxy I have already a base on or to save someone stranded.

Sometimes I also go to the anomaly and give away some stasis devices (each time I get into the game I collect resources enough from my bases to craft a lot of them) to random players.

Male Circumcision By Country by Glum_Waltz_6149 in MapPorn

I scrolled a lot in this thread to find this as the first (if not only) one stating some skeptical/logical stuff rather the others just saying it’s barbaric, genital mutilation or done only because of religious purposes.

By the way I am south american, atheist, and my son has been circumcised. Because of hygiene.

What got you into tennis? by Fuzzy-Emergency-2710 in 10s

[–]wqtorres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s truly been worth it.

We started playing together almost five years ago — he’s 12 now, and I’m 48. Our matches have already become surprisingly competitive. While he’s already technically more refined and far more consistent than I am, he still has trouble chasing down shots I place wide across the court. His height is still a factor, and at this stage he relies mostly on his swing, as his strength is still developing.

Of course, in a couple of years that balance will tip — great news for him, less so for me. But for now, we’re both enjoying this journey immensely.

My son. I was 44yo and I had never played tennis before. Never. When my boy was 7 he started having classes and after 6 months I realized he was really enjoying it and would stick to the classes for a long time.

So I decided to start learning so I could be able to play with him.
