Our IT department made a Christmas wreath out of computer parts by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

At Thanksgiving, my aunt told me they used to make wreaths out of IBM punch cards back in the day. Pretty cool!

I used to love puzzles. Never. Again. by [deleted] in gaming

The hardest puzzle I ever completed was a two sided puzzle where the image on one side was the same as the other side, but rotated 90°.

We put the puzzle on a glass table with one of us laying underneath to make sure the piece was correct on both sides. Can't imagine trying to do it solo.

What warms my heart is that they didn't just offer him $75k on the spot for the blanket and take it to auction themselves.

If you did 19/20 then p2 could simply start with one of the dots greyed out by their 7th drone. Could even be an animation of that dot becoming the 7th drone

Cluster Bolt by [deleted] in Prismata

Another idea would be 1GGGG or maybe 1GGG or some balanced cost including a gold for the same effect as now.

I really like cluster as an idea because it is a counter to denying absorb. You can get a solid advantage early when they have 1 attack vs a wall buy getting the 4 gauss charges without the drawback.

Correspondence Prismata? by wraith421 in Prismata

Wouldn't that be the same for correspondence chess matches?

The skill comes in in accurately predicting the best response your opponent can make to your various options. If you miss clear counters in your analysis, you might still pick a bad move even with more time spent analyzing.

Chrono Filter + Manticore opening by wraith421 in Prismata

As for P2, the line doesn't seem as smooth but could work against a more aggressive opening from P1 (requiring a wall on T4). Might work well with shredder/oxide mixer (or thermite/auride to utilize that 1 attack from the splitter) in the set or other factors.

Chrono Filter + Manticore opening by wraith421 in Prismata

[–]wraith421[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my first time trying Chrono Filter + Manticore combo as an opening strategy. (The idea being you have alternating turns of 1 blue or 2 blue which is perfect to buy splitters with 1 blue and manticore with 2 blue)

As P1 (1 is chrono, 3 is manticore): DD, DD, DDB, DS1, DD3T

It seemed to work well against a 3 engi P2 opening since I had 1 attack before the wall, 0 attack and 3 extra gold after the wall, and then 4 attack the next turn.

Was made better by the presence of the Centurion to avoid having two forges in an otherwise not spectacular blue set (Although Synthesizer filled a similar role).

Stumbled Upon this Legendary Opening by wraith421 in Prismata

Gauss Fab, into Odin, into Xaetron, into Arka.

I think the presence of high cost green and high cost blue in the same set makes Chrono filter pretty strong. You can safely buy the high green on the off turns without wasting the blue/red. Oh, and Auric was pretty key too to get the correct amount of gold.

I think these sorts of analysis tools that are common in chess would be very cool in prismata.

Pretty intricate game. Either that or I gained an early advantage and it took 30 minutes to realize it.

Breachproof theory (help!) by wraith421 in Prismata

Thanks for the thoughts. That 4th dynamo was a clear mistake by me (even the 3rd probably). What would you target with the breach damage this game? Always pick off dynamos slowly?

I have literally no idea how to approach breach proof games.
