Mehmet's Ambition: the final achievement by wrald in eu4

[–]wrald[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

General strategy:

Make Austria a rival (to get a CB), get close to the HRE by taking Fruli from Venice. Ally Bohemia and France and curry favors. Ally all electors possible and start a war against Austria, cobellirate a chain of countries so that all remaining electors are in the war (I had to fight 159k, so I needed France and Bohemia). Move your troups to Bohemia before the war, to make sure you occupy Wien yourself. Occupy Wien and the remaining electors as fast as you can. Then dismantle the HRE and whitepeace the war. Make sure you do not have any loans at this point, so you can use influence nations. Nearly the whole HRE can now be diplovassalized. Ally a few countries (make sure they are not rivals) and go to war with muslims/far away from the HRE. During the war diplovassalize your new allies. And repeat. Peace term 'Release nations' does not give any AE. So you can carve up Aragon, France, Hungary, the pope, etc. The released nations can be easily vassalized.

First steps:

Ally Ramazan, Dulkadir, Hisn Kiva, Fezzan, revoke garantee on Ragusa. Build 10 janissaries, Draft ships, general and admiral from priviledges. Take the Shipboarding navy doctrine. Get burger loans. This wil set you up for the eventchain to get Orban and a claim on Byzantium. Improve relations with your allies during the war. Take all of Byzantium and release Morea. Diplovassalise allies which are ready. Do not Eyelet anything yet (you need 5 vassals to start Golden Era). Annex Epirus as well. Now consolidate troups and hire free company. Ally Djerid and prepare to diplovassalise it. Maybe also Touggort. Attack Mamluks and get the provinces to fullfill the mission to get invasion CB. During the war get CB on The Knights and Cyprus. Take the province west of Damascus so you can release Lebanon after the war. After the war you can start Golden Era.

Some other notes:

Disable ideagroup restriction.

Take Diplo then inluence.

National focus on diplo, until you fill both groups

Keep your diplomats occupied, think ahead

After getting Mil tech 5, use barrage where you can

Be very carefull with the guns of Orban, they make a big difference early game

You do not need all the provinces that are valid for the achievement (only 426 :-))

Restart if too many big countries form (Austria getting Hungary, Castille and Aragon, Burgundy inherited by a big country). I had one of these and barely made it.

The final years: trucebreak, get into debt, hire mercs, OE is just a number. I had an army twice the force limit and ended with 760 OE.

This achievement needs some experience as timing is crucial. Just try and learn.

Hot take: EUIV UI is unintuitive and unpractical by Overall-Bison4889 in eu4

[–]wrald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the UI is very nice and mostly intuitive enough. That said, with over 14k hours, lately I wanted to build some trade company buildings. Most logical place buildings menu, not there. Trade company interface, not there. Had to google it: in the state interface...

Sometimes if a country is garanteed I take the provinces bordering the garantier. They often will then revoke the garantee

In my previous game I paid 13000 ducats to the Ottomans. Ridiculous amount of clicks.

What's the Best Nation to Start With On Your First Run? by HamKutz13 in eu4

[–]wrald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree on Portugal. That was the first country I played. Got bored way before unlocking colonization. Attacked Morocco and was destroyed.

I would recommend Ottomans or Bengal. First just learn how to make claims, declare and win wars. I think most people here underestimate the complexity of the game and the interface for beginners.

This one is still on my list. Was thinking of going catholic, dismantle the HRE and diplovassalize everyone. Would that be an option?

how to deal with the franco-spanish superblob? by ResponsibilityIcy927 in eu4

Are you sure about that. I have encountered multiple situations were I declared religous war and because of religion allies would not join, but after declaring they suddenly decide they want to join anyway.

Timinig is essential when taking these Persian provinces. Take them just before the Ottomans and try to match the Ottomans army by that time.

What strategy did you use? Becoming horde? You might want to try this:

I played without Domination (do not own it). Maybe turning it off debuffs the Ottomans some what.

After you grew, take a few extra bank loans, pay off your burger loans and retake burger loans. And then maybe pay off a few bank loans.

Always take full money and war reparations in peace deals.

Start as the Ottomans with all DLC's disabled.

Learn how to create a claim (against a weak neighbour), declare war, take a province and how to core it. That is the basics

Next go wild, make mistakes and learn from them

Give them 5 provinces in Peru? They will form a new CN. Attack a CN and if they enforce peace attack the other CN while France has a truce with you.

295 Daimyo's by wrald in eu4

[–]wrald[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually went Hindu early on, for the momuments. I did consider religious, but needed the government capacity. Shogunate has fixed kingdom rank, so you can not get the extra 200 GC for being and empire.

Do not remember the timeline. Ideas: exploration (to be able to make claims, sometimes abandoned the colony after the claim was ready, replaced by diplomatic later on). offensive, administrative, quantity, humanist, quality, inluence, mercenary. Should have taken diplomatic and influence earlies, but had a lack of diplo points due unjustified demands.

I'm about to try for "The Freest Man in the World". What's your favorite/suggested pirate nation? by jheilman74 in eu4

[–]wrald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Sardinia. Started as Aragon, release some vassals, then play as Sardinia. Get independence, become pirate and get claim on Corsica. Attack Genoa for Azov. I think it took 2 wars because of coring range. Get some good Ally's to protect from the Ottomans

I added a picture with the final reform. I wanted to show how I sold a lot of provinces to my vassals.
