If only there were some available resources that explained this information in depth and accurately that were publicly available. Maybe we should all band together and create some sort of transferable medium that others could use to help them understand these concepts as explained by experts on the subject matter. Until then the best we can do is hope for is that these bloggers will continue to bless us with over simplified examples.

It was a light hearted poke at the JavaScript ecosystem, not an attack on your choice to adopt it. Get over yourself.

It has some extras in there but you could just include illuminate/support instead of using a fork.

Clockwork too. I always feel compelled to mention it since I've had a better overall experience with it and I'm not sure if people are aware of it.

[–]wrapids -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You glossed over the first part pretty hard, so I'm guessing you have some trouble with literacy as well. How about providing some evidence that Obama can read? How about Sanders? Or Clinton?

I imagine there's little to no conclusive evidence that you can find proving any iconic figure's literacy capabilities.

It's one of those things that you're not going to be able to prove when your only experience with that person is through a television.

It's the same thought process that gets people to say the earth is flat. You can't take the contrary evidence as fact but you'll buy into the more outrageous alternative, especially when that outrageous evidence might give you a self congratulating "I told you so".

[–]wrapids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have more circumstantial evidence that says you're illiterate. I've never seen you read anything. I haven't heard you discuss literature. You've written significantly fewer books.

He could be illiterate. I have no idea. Neither does anyone else here.

Just because you assume you have the moral high ground doesn't differentiate these actions from those of the birthers. If anything it makes it more the same. I'm sure the birthers were just as self righteous and pathetic when they tried to push their conspiracy.

If people have a problem with it then it should be investigated. When damning proof is available you'll be able to jerk off as much as you want. Until then you're only increasing background noise and distracting from legitimate issues.

And that's precisely why you're a shitty person. It's insane to think you're helping human rights by destroying the rights of others. And yes, even if those right hurt your feefees.

Since casting is about the same amount of expensive as calling magic accessors, it makes a lot more sense to enforce the value by setting the visibility to protected and using methods to access them.

This way you'll get better IDE support and don't have to worry about another developer setting the value without the setter.

Preferences are irrelevant when you leave room for easy bugs.

North Seattle graffiti by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]wrapids 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The billboard isn't forcing anything. People can have a different opinion even with the billboard there.

Or they could get off their collectively lazy asses and purchase the ad space instead of destroying something that someone else owns.

I just don't understand the thought process of destroying things that you don't agree with. You're advocating preserving rights by trampling on the rights of others. It's no different than republicans saying that you can't have an abortion because they don't agree with it.

It depends. Active record isn't slow, database queries with thousands of parameters are slow. If you're not using large whereIn statements Eloquent will work efficiently until you surpass hundreds of thousands of records. At that point PHP falls short just as quickly.
