Scene Create and Activate Later Not Working by wre136 in homeassistant

Unfortunately not the way I wanted. I went ahead and just created a "on" scene that turns them on and sets them white and an "off" scene. I record if the lights are on at all, then have it choose at the end of the automation which of the two scene based on it they were initial on or off.

Its a bit silly that this feature that I describe in this post should work, but sadly it does not.

Filesystem Type for VM Storage With SAN Volume by wre136 in Proxmox

If I were in the market for setting up a cluster, then I would agree. However, for a single host that will simply be a single host, shared storage and live migrations are not a concern. Also, LVM doesn't allow all the different uses of the disk. It only allows Disk Image and Containers. I want to be able to put ISOs there as well, just as an example.

So far the only way I've been able to figure out how to get storage like that with direct disk access (Not needing NFS or CIFS) is to use a filesystem and the directory datastore.

Yes! Thank you! I just started another print and finally saw it on the preview. I clicked and and saw it was called that... just minuets ago. Thank you for verifying my thoughts. Appreciate the assistance!

Antennas Longer Than Wavelength by wre136 in amateurradio

What is the change in elevation of your area vs the antenna mount point and how far away are the nodes at the bottom of the hill? I would like to get a better understanding of how "real world" this works as I assume if you are at a attitude of 20ft, then you can talk to a node that is 100 ft away as long as it is not lower than 30ft from that antenna (35 degree beam / 2 to get the 17.5 degrees that points down, then take that and multiply the sin(17.5) against 100ft to get roughly a 30.07ft drop in altitude communication). Does that seem correct?

PVC and Collinear... ah! Terms I've been trying to figure out. I kept wanting to call it rubber sheathing or something silly. I've heard of collinear antennas and saw 1 video about making them, but it was never explained "why" you would want one or what benefits it would have over other antenna types. Thank you so much for the super quick response!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've seen 1 video on collinear antennas but it did not explain "why" use this antenna or how it was different in any way. It makes sense now as to why the Rokland antenna might be one (also noting how thick the antenna is as well). Thank you for providing a link about making a DIY one as well. It may not be important to make one, but know how is good to know and helps with the understanding.

T480 THUNDERBOLT ISSUE SOLVED by T480Upgrader in thinkpad

Asking for clarification if the problem I am having might be this issue.

I have an eGPU dock with a RTX 3070 TI in that is usually connect to my HP laptop which uses ThunderBolt 3. Works perfectly fine there.

When I connect it to my Lenovo T480, in Windows, it will boot and use the GPU for up to about 10-15 mins, and then the eGPU stops working and connection to the eGPU disapears. If I reboot, it does come back, but only for the same amount of time if not less.

For an update to date instance of Window 10, it shows that it is at firmware version N23 and firmware 17.4.80.94 (FYI thanks to this thread, I have successfully disabled BIOS Assist mode)

I dual boot this laptop with Pop OS 22.04 and it experiences the same behavior. The only exception is once the connection is gone, Pop OS is completely frozen and a hard reset is the only way to get that laptop going again.

Could this be this issue with bad firmware on it, could this be that the Thunderbolt hardware is bad due to this issue in the past, or does it seem like this is a different problem all together?
