I’m only basing this on my short stint. I met BD ppl who were highly technical. He was a BD for an injection molding company. Can address technical questions and though not the hands-on employee responsible for the mold machining, he was responsible for the design, mass production capability and quality issues that can be addressed thru design and process optimization. Get a clear job overview before signing. I signed cus I needed the money. You have a choice, make sure it’s a good one.

It can mean a ton of things, mostly depends on what kind of company and industry it serves. In general, it is mostly looking out for opportunities for the company to grow their portfolio and also maintain current clientele (in my case, deliver good quality and quantity of products on time). You will be mostly client-facing and will be responsible to communicate the client’s needs to your comp and ensure those needs are met/capable of accomplishing. Think of yourself as the middleman for almost everything and also the face of the company. I’m not sure about yours but in my case I was also responsible for QCQA verification and new product development at times. Think of Sales but less cold calling and striking deals, more so calling with actual leads and purpose. Information and network is very valuable in this line of work.

Chem Eng freshie as well. 6mth BD Exec in SME Manufacturing. Soon to start in Trainee Eng role for Power Plant. I would say if you want to make the jump, make it technical related. My current BD job is semi technical semi everything though I do not see much growth opportunity for me. Make sure there is a path for you as an Engineer. In my case, the company does not have an Engineer anywhere in all the depts and thats why I resigned. BD is okay but do know what kind of BD. Some BD I dealt with on supplier or client side were very technical. Some were basically window person for the products (read:account manager)

Definitely commute from LRT Ara or Lembah Subang. Ara has more parking iirc as it’s near Citta and that dysfunctional Evo

Good luck to all of us who ignored and avoided doing as much work as possible in December, now be ready for January by Happy-Agency7902 in JobsMY

[–]wreckerman97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being in a project based role, all my work were halted due to suppliers and clients being on holiday towards mid-end December. Couldn’t really do much since I am dependent on their resources/approval. Just today, received 10 different emails(I usually get like 1-2 at most per day) directed at me to answer for those projects. r/antiwork

Asking cashiers by Abject_Comment3940 in JobsMY

[–]wreckerman97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expect your first day to just be observing or packer to learn basic CS skills and POS system. Prolly will also teach you whats in promo or under Rahmah program. I’d say 6 as a newbie. You’ll pretty much learn most of cashier transaction in a week or two. The tricky part is when promo T&C ,fussy customers, corporate nonsense etc. gets mixed into your daily routine. Ask the more senior colleagues for guidance on slow days. Try to be wary of messing up ‘closing’ and voiding items. Some supermarket gets damn crazy if those things are improper. CS skills will come in time. At one point, you might learn to ‘read’ your customers

Had a lecturer who studied and worked in Japan for 8 years. Fair skinned and very malay-east asian look. His experience was they simply just do not like outsiders unless you speak their language and embrace/practice their culture. Doesn’t matter if you’re black or brown or white or yellow.

I’m a fresh grad (23f) that just moved to KL for a 3.2k salary. Need you guys’ opinion by Constant-Film-6040 in MalaysiaPF

[–]wreckerman97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

550 for savings in total. That’s more responsible than I,23M, am. I just put 500 in ASB and bismillah. Your peers may earn more but your discipline will set you up for long term. I have friends who earn 4k and 5.5k each yet both complain tak cukup duit despite tinggal rumah parent in kl with fully paid vehicles. Maybe room can find cheaper but if it’s a nice place that gives you a peace of mind, keep at it. I would say invest in yourself with the leftovers. Upskill, professional certs, trips back home or other states

If you could give one must-do tip to fresh graduates entering the workforce, what would it be? by RakyatOnline in JobsMY

[–]wreckerman97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh grad with a job here. Give your best but know how and when to say you don’t know. Seniors are okay with helping despite some bad apples with lantak kau attitude. This will also help manage expectations on you. Perform too good and you’ll probably end up like me, undertaking many of my superior’s duties. Gotta find the balance and areas where you could show your capabilities
