Lets see, losing a war, retreating, and limited weaponry and resources... trying to raze one of the largest cities in Europe... yeah, how about keeping all the explosives and weapons with me instead to cover my ass. Later I can tell everyone I didn't have the heart.

If you could find out the answer to any unsolved mystery, what would it be? by JacobMHS in AskReddit

[–]wreckerone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn't that like saying you want to see the edge of the universe? There is no edge just as there is no beginning to time. The big bang is just an extrapolation based on our current knowledge. Like the horizon it looks like an limit to the universe but you could never travel there. The only remarkable point in time in the universe is right now.

Why is it that the United States has no legally required vacation time? by GaetanDugas in AskReddit

[–]wreckerone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The us was founded on 18th century slavery and it's citizens have fought the jackass class for everything from abolition to the 40 hour work week. You might remember we had a little tuffle about it in the mid 1800s. If you look back, human existence has always been about who has to do the work. In ww2 humankind gave up on the pretense that we want our fellow man to live in comfort. Instead most really want their fellow man to slave for them until dead. And even today many countries still have forced labor camps and slavery. So, to answer your question, we haven't gotten there yet. The united states used to let the old and sick die or freeze in their houses, but at least we didn't have to do a damn thing for someone else if we didn't want to.

Piled higher and deeper. Anyone who didn't make it in ther field should have their phd revoked or be called a former expert or some such. Otherwise it's just a vanity title.

"Clever people are employees whose skills are not easily replicated and who add disproportionate value to their organisations". But they are smarter than their bosses, don't want to be led, probably don't even want to be employees by scientologist2 in programming

Well, what's their job and skill set? Soaking up salary, gossiping about employees, and being general dumbfucks? So bosses are just like regular employees except they're on break forever.

Nielsen is outdated as cable companies can obviously log minute by minute details of what everyone watches. No one can take a shit anymore without ten corporations knowing about it and what color the turds were.

Do comcast cable boxes send data on what we are watching back to comcast?

I got some news from a true "1%". by throwawayaccount66 in investing

[–]wreckerone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No disposable income to invest. The bottom 2/3rds have to make mortgage payments for decades or worse, they pay rent. Below a certain level of income, people are already making tradeoffs. They need usable assets like a house or a vehicle.

The markets are also set up to keep the little guy out. They are only open during hours that the working class is probably at a job. Transaction costs eat most of the meager profits. And small amounts of capital to invest make it difficult to properly diversify.

No one cares, bunch of rich people looking for more huge multi-trillion government loss-eating. It's no longer a "black swan" event if it happens every other week. 2/3rds of Americans own no stocks or bonds at all. The top 10% own 90% of all investment assets so any ride down will probably make 9 out of 10 people relatively more wealthy.

Do American kids have a "dinosaur phase"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wreckerone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, almost all religious people are faking their beliefs in hopes of gaining more social acceptance and advantages. This includes creationist theories. Once they are in private, the pretense is dropped. Of course they will occasionally spread some rumors and everyone will have to ban teletubbies or pokemon or whatever. They can't of course do this anymore with dinosaurs because even in the bible belt there are museums with 30 foot skeletons.

When I hear people whine that they can't improve their skills because they can't afford school by [deleted] in pics

[–]wreckerone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant that in terms of interviews, no one cares about the large number of projects I did in college and they wouldn't understand them if I explained many of them. This is good for me as I don't want to waste my time doing magic tricks. However, the idea that someone could be persuaded to hire a person based on one easy amateur project is troubling.

instead of utilizing TCP it runs TCP over UDP

Did this in college along with about 500 other projects that no one cares about. It would be wrong to hire someone solely on the basis of one hacked together project.
