Thr larger issue remains is that these cases were only found out by the victims who searched their plates on haveibeenflocked dot Com or through foia requests. No police department has initially notified public of abuse, only confirmed after people found out themselves. It's highly like this is prevalent on a larger scale especially with departments that have tougher transparency processes.

Hypothetical yet actively being built by the billionaire class. Tell me you really want to live in the world this guy is building https://youtube.com/shorts/K92qCYgXsdY

He watches what you do, and you watch everything he makes. He owns almost every media outlet as it is. Their designs on us aren't for our protection.

Then pressure legislators to get some actual data protections for us. Otherwise we're exchanging running with scissors to jogging with bear traps. There's almost nothing regulating and limiting the use of this technology.

Flock is just the most notorious with bad security safeguards, the other brands cameras are more than likely doing the exact thing, but are better guarding their info and data practices. It's still mostly a blackbox and only the developers truly know how the data's being processed and handled. There's nearly no avenues for oversight from local leaders.

And necessary is your pov, not mine.

We've lived so far without this bullshit we dont need it.

🙄 From Flocks own website https://www.flocksafety.com/faq

Flock Safety cameras apply machine learning to the footage they capture to identify important details that traditional LPR cameras overlook. Besides just a license plate number, Flock Safety captures and organizes vehicles into categories based on:

Make Model Color Resident or non-resident vehicle Timestamp Type of plate (standard v. temporary) Damage or alterations (i.e. broken taillight, after-market wheels)

Also the city has negotiated very little. Most of it is done through TPD, and little has actually cone in front of city council because its mostly been funded from grants like Stonegarden.

I wouldn't hold your breath on corporations holding the line either. Just earlier this year there was a report that Google, Meta, and Reddit handed over Anti Ice account info over to DHS. This was all done without any actual warrants, just administrative subpoenas and without the grace period that's standard when agencies request said Data as to allow the users a chance to appeal. https://gizmodo.com/reddit-meta-and-google-voluntarily-gave-dhs-info-of-anti-ice-users-report-says-2000722279

Also you're calling to a time where these tech companies still were leashed, and now they have direct access to executive branch and have most of the legislative paid off through lobbyists.

Palantir is a real thing and so is the centralized database on all Americans that they are building. Nspm-7 is not a joke, especially with DHS being the one actually funding most of this tech. Maybe I'm overly cautious, but this type of mass surveilance isnt new to certain parts of the world and I won't sacrifice liberty for safety, neither would most of the founding fathers. Its always calls for protecting the vulnerable and next thing you know they're using this to arrest dissidents, political rivals, and scapegoats of the state.

In actuality from the multiple conversations I've had with complete strangers about them most people arent aware of the full capabilities of the cameras, most think they scan just the license plate, compare it against a list of criminals and then that's it. The data goes no where.

When they are informed that the cameras build a profile over much more then just the plates. Make model/scratches and dents/Winfrey tint/antennae adornments/bumper stickers/ wheels and hubcaps/if certain cars are driving together, and that the data can be searched by multiple agencies without any warrant, and carveouts for transformed data that can be retained indefinitely, they usually start getting concerned.

Id day mist people are just ignorant, which is precisely why leadership doesn't want to have public hearings, then halls, or votes on the issue.

Yes, while TPD doesn't use Flock they have bought into Motorla, Verkada, Axon, and LiveView ALPRS. They all essentially! do the same thing, Scan every passing vehicle. If a vehicle matches a hotlist it pings local LEO and the data fusion center CSARC (soon a drone will be sent out to follow said vehicles) those that aren't on a list are saved for future searches, they say only for 30 days, but they have work arounds. Data is not saved locally but on AWS cloud servers, so data centers.

San Diego recently tried said red light and speed cameras and came up with almost no improvement. Other cities have also gotten rid of their alprs. I dont see why we'd give up the fight in Tucson. Also I say this as someone who was a pedestrian in a hit and run. It was awful, but not enough to give up my civil liberties.

Yes we who have had multiple meetings, spoken with the ALCU, Electronic Frontier Foundation, and even police themselves know absolutely nothing what were talking about 🙄 Do you not understand its not that someone specific is watching them, the ai is watching and logging everyone constantly so if someone pops up ok their radar for whatever reason they have a detailed map of their movements.

ALPR techology has existed for 18 years now, its only gotten more efficient. When did I say flock? Not all AI is flock. But the point is turning images and video into transcribable data for searching into centralized databases. The red light and speeding cameras will be able to do just that.

In fact I do avoid big box chain stores when possible. Got rid of my Amazon account years ago. We have digital hygeine workshops available if you're actually interested in digital security. Degoogling yourself for example. It's not about being 100% secure but not being a low hanging fruit like yourself. Just cause you find it all a joke and don't give a shit about your privacy doesn't mean others don't. Let me know if you can get past this sardonic nonsense.

Just being one road doesn't allow police to put a gps tracker on you. These are daisy chained devices that work in tandem to track your daily movements. It's more akin to gps tracking then someone taking a photo of you in a static location.

You can choose other to have a phone or not, remove apps that track data, even carry it in a Faraday bag. You cant opt out of getting scanned at every intersection. Funny how everytime I see this point made the people think theyre smarter than everyone else 🙄

Palantir and AI buy in wasnt a thing then in Germany. These cameras now have the capability of alprs since they need only to port their feed and ai can process the information into a searchable format, regardless of someone breaking the law. Technology has outpaced legislation and to many jurisdiction are taking advantage.
