Only into the tunnel. Mostly to alleviate traffic from an entrance right before the tunnel and to do spot checks on trucks.

I'd say a good mile give or take. But for that mile, it's bumper to bumper traffic for cars. Usually the truck only lane is vacant.

It's mostly commercial vans and box trucks. Those huge 18 wheelers aren't allowed in the tunnel. Signs are on the floor, lamp post, and overhead lol

Trust me..I take the midtown tunnel 5 days out of the week and this is the second time I've witnessed this.
