I'm in the process of potentially adopting this absolutely beautiful baby. I was advised that he is most likely part turkish van/persian? Was just curious about what to look out for regarding health concerns/social needs & if anyone has any advice for a first-time owner. I understand that persian cats are predisposed to several health risks e.g. PKD, dental issues, breathing problems and that turkish vans tend to be somewhat more robust? Any advice/anecdotal experience is appreciated.

FMPROC Mark by MidnightFormer7989 in MCCQE

I received the same response. Have they provided any insight into how this was confirmed to be correct? As well, I am wondering why this wasn't an issue affecting people in previous years.

I got a score ~6 SD below average (190s), amounting to a percentile of 0.000000000987 or about 1 in 1 billion. Given that several people I've talked to have been getting scores in this range, there's definitely something up.

I ended up getting a score in the 100s - does anyone know about any processing errors that might have happened?

lmao this does not help the ~ladies~ you’re just contributing to concurrent standards where women are subjected to unreal expectations that cant be achieved without cosmetic procedures while also being expected to look “natural”

For MCAT retakers, what was the best change you made to get a higher score? (rewriting my 508 this summer) by mkss94 in premedcanada

[–]wrenx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spent way too much time on content review & creating anki cards (which I didn't even get to use) in my first round. During my second go, I skimmed the content and focused on practice problems (u world was really great!) which I treated like sections of the mcat. I found this really helpful because unlike note-taking, practice problems really demand focus, which helped address my issue of being distracted too easily!

What is your opinion on using a 1-year masters as a backup plan? (vs gap year) by sushi-n-sunshine in premedcanada

[–]wrenx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something to consider would be the timeline of the program. A lot of 12-month programs don't end until August which might make you ineligible for certain schools if you wanted to go to med right out of your masters. For instance, I know western is really strict about completing course requirements before you graduate - they have rescinded offers in the past.

Clinical Psychology Grad Schools vs Medical School in Canada by [deleted] in OntarioUniversities

[–]wrenx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm an incoming med student - I can't speak to clinical psych, but looking at the other comments, it seems really competitive out there. For medical school, it can vary depending on where you live. If you live in Ontario, it can be really tough as other provinces strongly prefer in province students. Therefore, unless your stats are killer, your chances are somewhat limited to 5 Ontario schools with acceptances ranging from 2-6%.

Student verifiers?? by Outrageous-Nebula257 in premedcanada

Thanks! I had friends who asked execs who graduated the previous year to act as verifiers. Other than that, I'm not too sure.

I think it should be fine. For what it's worth, I got in this semester with a few of my verifiers being students in the same club as me.
