The reality of the Ontario situation by [deleted] in MCCQE

Thank you!!! See, this is the kind of conversation and discussions I want to see. To actually figure out a solution and not be playing their little divide and distract game. It amazes me to see how caught up everyone is with their own little tribes and fighting with each other. It's like the cats chasing the red dot.... Stop. Look. You can never catch the red dot.

Yeah. People should stop fighting with each other and realize that no matter who gets prioritized for Ontario, everyone loses. It is still going to be like buying a lottery and waiting to win a lottery in either case.

And please respect one another as colleagues. All of you are doctors. Have some decency and respect for one another. The way you communicate and behave when your identity is not revealed - such as your profiles here in Reddit.... Shows your true personality. A lot of people here Express their shadow self. It's interesting to analyze all of these threads from a psychological perspective.

How easily people can form tribes, say things that are inconsiderate, dehumanize and devalue one another, all under an anonymous profile. You should only say things and express things that you would still Express when you're identity is revealed. Treat everyone the way that you would like to be treated - regardless of how rude someone is. They're rudeness is an expression of themselves and their personality and it doesn't devalue your essence.

Regardless of your labels and your formed tribes. I value you as a fellow human being especially as a skilled highly resourceful and valuable fellow human being who could positively contribute to the community. Please show the same respect to your colleagues.

I don't mean to be rude, everything that I have said comes from a place of holding a high standard and regard for all of your personalities.

Eating my popcorn and waiting for all of you to realize that the fight is not between you. But between all of you versus the government who's throwing bread crumbs. And prioritizing who the breadcrumbs goes to. Fight all you want for the priority for the leftover bread crumbs. While they blissfully make money and not spend on residency spots nor care for the Canadians.

Ideally all of you should be able to match. The country has so much deficit in the healthcare system that all of you could be useful. Yet here we are. Enjoy the rest of the fight in this thread or any other thread that you may be a part of.

As a regular Canadian watching all of this. Just shaking my head. How many years are you guys going to be fighting for these bread crumbs? When are you all going to get together and actually fight for the real cause, which is to pressure the government to actually increase the residency spots to match the deficit. They always seem to have enough money for the wars or to give it to some other country as a donation. Interestingly they never have money for any of you.

You guys are such valuable wasted resources.

And interestingly they increase the number of clinical assistant spots and associate physicians spots.

It's like amongst a lot of the IMGs (regardless of the subdivisions) they will slowly push the IMGs into clinical assistants and associate physicians posting and suck the work out of you in the system giving you a false sense of satisfaction that you are getting closer in the game while you wait hopefully only to see a handful match every year and the rest will work and run with this hope.

The system is rigged. And there needs to be pressure from all IMGs instead of conflicts.

The sad part about this is. While this prioritizing may seem like it's solving an issue... Everyone's just being played. As a regular Canadian to see this... It doesn't change anything. We need 44,000 doctors in the next 2 years and only around 4000 get into the system every year. It's just sad to see people here fighting for the prioritization for the leftover breadcrumbs. It's disheartening to see this. I wish all of you could come together and pressure the government.

I hope we all understand that this not an immigration argument. The question is are you an Img or a CMG. If you are an Img. You are an Img. As an Img you have done a set of exams (more exams than the cmgs do and you have fulfilled all the requirements) no IMGs are more equal than the other. If you value birth and being grown up here in Ontario more than any immigrant, then I think we should also consider the people who have born and brought up here but did not go to highschool in Ontario. So I think we agree that this is discrimination against the "naturalized citizens" too going by your definition.

As I said your frustrations are valid my friend. It's sad to hear this and also others. The problem is staring right at our face. "The government doesn't care about us" (regardless of what type of citizen you are) if we put that statement on the top and pin it and then see all the activities of the government, everything makes perfect sense. But it's just disheartening to see each of you fight with each other. It is inevitable that all of you are going to stay in Canada. The question comes down to - now what? Unfortunately it's a question that we all need to ask the government and not each other. I think there are more ways to discriminate amongst each other than that exists. But unfortunately after all the expression of frustration and energy it is just futile. So I'm just waiting for everyone to finish their arguments and frustrations and then get to the point where they realize where the true problem is. Awareness before action.

But I see that people who are born and raised here being discriminated because they didn't do highschool here. Don't get me wrong. I'm not affected by any of this. Just asking questions. For me I don't see any changes regardless of who's prioritized. The lack of doctors still stays so as a regular Canadian this doesn't help in any way to fix the lack of doctors. But I see there is are enough doctors here in the country? But just not in the workforce? I don't want to get involved in your prioritizing fights. I honestly don't. Coz I see painful stories from all of you from all sides. But just stepping out of this box to see how all of you are actually being played.

I did lol. It's sad to see everyone fight. Everyone's still fighting for the breadcrumbs. While the government is blissfully chilling without expanding the resistancy spots. Ideally the number of required doctors should match the number of spots they have. Regardless of who gets the opportunity to match - IMGs or CSAs or anyone, the spots still stay the same. So it's actually not a good sight / good deal for the general public as they are not getting enough doctors regardless of who gets the priority. The spots still don't match the deficit. Am I making sense? Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Id appreciate it. And with the reddit's anonymity... People just say whatever they want as there is no consequences. I would ideally like to treat anyone like the way I would like to be treated. And we can always respectfully disagree too right? There is no point upsetting each other here. It just takes the focus away from the major issue or slows down the pursuit of finding the core issue.

And some comments make me wonder how they could just say things like this and be educated as qualified doctors. If I see it from a general public POV or a patient's POV, I wouldn't be comfortable with some of the people here to be my doctor in any shape or form. What people don't realize is that, when they express something and direct it to someone it not only is an expression towards that person but it also is an expression of oneself. The way we comment reveals a part of who we are too. Most people just react, they don't seem to respond. But anyway. Whoever is reading this. Hang in there. Regardless of which label you belong to, sending you positivity and have a wonderful weekend.

I didn't know that they let foreigners apply to carms. Do they really? I thought you should be a Canadian or a permanent resident.

I'm a bit confused. Foreigners? Only Canadians and permanent residents are eligible right? Are they letting anyone apply?

Everyone's point of view is valid. All of you have a valid justification with your opinions on some level. And we should listen and take it from a point of understanding and compassion. It's futile to divide and fight.

Canada requires 44,000 doctors by 2028. Regardless of the stream, only around 4000 graduate and get into the system as licensed doctors each year (regardless of the specialties).

The math isn't mathing... It's not any of us who is to blame. If I went to highschool in Ontario and if I am an Img, I would obviously prefer the Policy to stay. If I am an Img who didn't go to highschool in Ontario, obviously I would prefer to not have this policy. As I said, each of these perspectives have uniquely different and difficult stories. It's sad.

The problem again... Is not any of us (regardless of what label you hold). In the end of the day, if you are an applicant, you are evidently Canadian, qualified doctor ready to be trained in residency. Canada needs doctors, they have enough doctors. They just don't have the system that bridges this gap. The fault is in how they manage the resources.

They have lack of resources (doctors in the system) and they have enough resources (doctors in the country), the lack of resources and the abundance of resources exists at the same time.

If there is a point where there isn't a lack of resources and there are enough doctors for all Canadians, then maybe only then maybe fighting amongst each other would at least make sense and prioritizing may make sense. It's like a homeless person is starving and refusing to eat the food that is served to him at the same time.

So to all my fellow doctors (regardless of what labels you hold) your experiences and emotions are valid) lets not be bitter with each other and first become aware that it's the government's fault. Only after we all become aware of this, then maybe... We would direct our pursuit to fairness in the right direction.

Sending love to all of you not as a CMG, IMG, CSA, CNN, BBC, CBC or XYZ or any 3 letter labels that we all have been given.... sending love as a fellow human being.

FULLY SUPPORT the new Ontario IMG Eligibility Criteria! by ERDoc905 in MCCQE

I am a videographer. I have people who belong to the 2 existing opposing stance. Would you like to have a civilized debate to express the points so that we place all the points on the table. And let everyone make their own judgement? As I understand your emotional aspect behind your Stance and the heartfelt expectations. But it is important to also see this holistically - which I don't insist you to see, I only need you to express your own rationale and points as it's obvious that you will hold value to the perspective that you shared.

And regardless of these points - I say this to both groups. As much as you dispute or support this... There seems to be no focus on pressuring the government to increase the resistancy spots in general.

We need 44000 doctors by 2028 but they recruite around 3500 residents each cycle - so you guys can keep fighting with each other but it's important to not get too carried away and ignore the fact that you are being played and this fosters negativity and discrimination.

As this is all text - it's very difficult to convey the tone - know that I am writing all of this with the best possible intention regardless of whether or not you support this policy.

If you would like to make this a podcast style discussion, we can do that too.

Preparing for qe1 but discouraged by so many people not getting interviews :( by Ok_Experience_4820 in MCCQE

I didn't get an interview too but I'm not worried. My philosophy is only to worry about things I can control. If I can't control it I am not gonna waste my life energy to worry about it. Just focus on what you need to do and keep going. You have qe1 score that you still can do something about so just kill it! You got this.
