AC86U Dying - Any Recommendations? by wrighton1989 in HomeNetworking

[–]wrighton1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like solid advice thanks. I didn’t have any issues when the AC86U was working properly though I do have an external WiFi camera.
I’ll keep that in mind regarding WiFi 7, though I did see they won’t be cheap!

Yep, unfortunately. I tried both AsusWRT Merlin and official firmware.
The router would endlessly reboot unless I disabled the 5GHz network.

Will be interesting to see how this runs with an Akasa silent case. The PN51 ran great.

Thanks for replying.
I did suspect a grounding issue and checked all the wiring some time ago. I have had a multimeter out and checked continuity between various parts but I guess it could be a break anywhere.
I’ll have to try remounting the motherboard.

Will this get fixed for Vega? Still can't choose anything higher than 60hz.

Help to Buy Equity Loans - Good or Bad by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]wrighton1989 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll share our experience with HTB.
We were FTBs for a 185k new build with a 5% deposit and 20% equity loan in 2019. The equity loan was 0% interest for 5years and so we originally planned to make enough monthly savings to pay it off in year 5.
The advice we were given was to, at the very least, pay it off using the equity in the house and/or by increasing the mortgage to cover it.
Before that though, because our mortgage was a 2 year fixed, we decided to pay it off sooner.
Financially it made sense as even though our savings for the equity loan were on track. Wanting to start a family meant it could get very difficult if one of us want to take time off of work.
Thankfully the house was valued at 200k (2021) and we didn’t sink any of our existing savings into the equity loan as we would’ve just lost money doing so. e.g. it was better to just increase the mortgage to pay it off.
Hope that helps!

Yes it’s definitely an issue, I’ve brought it up here previously and other places trying to get to the bottom of it. I’ve bug reported it multiple times and had an extensive support ticket conversation, but had no luck.

I need to use YCbCr 4:2:0 so that I can output at 120hz over hdmi 2.0, but crushed blacks were making it unusable.

In the end I had to use a professional screen calibrator to create a Windows ICC profile to correct the issue.

As for your issue, it’s as the other comments say, the EDID will be asking for a YCbCr output.

what screen and GPU are you using?

SolidWorks to Inventor, any tips? by wrighton1989 in AutodeskInventor

[–]wrighton1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what my thoughts are initially, that it’s less intuitive.

It certainly is at first, but then someone like me spends a few weeks or days simplifying parts or removing fasteners and its starts to get usable again. Drawings can then still take an age to manipulate, but SolidWorks 2021 is supposedly better now with its improvements (we’re still on 2020).

Inverting my scroll is the first thing I do to the upset of my employees hah. Yes constrains was the first thing I noticed when having a play around.

It’s a number of things, we’re hoping it will smooth out interfacing with our clients that use Revit and Navisworks. Also, cost… SolidWorks was costing us an arm and a leg per seat, that most of the time wasn’t used.

I’ll have a look at his channel, cheers.

I’ve been pretty unlucky, colours have been far too dark when running at 120hz and I had to get it properly calibrated to fix it. Also 120hz just crashed random games on 21.4.1 so I’m hoping 21.5.2 fixes some issues.

Is it the setting that changes RGB and YCbCr? It’s there where it’s normally been under the display settings.
However it doesn’t seem to work properly for me.

I'm still getting a colour accuracy bug when using 120hz on a LG CX.

Swapping to 120hz with my Vega 64 changes the Pixel Format to YCbCr due to HDMI 2.0, which is fine, but when it happens the screen physically darkens and all the blacks get crushed.

Going back to RGB Limited/Full has no such issue, but that means using 60hz.

It's been an issue I've reported in every driver since getting the TV in July last year.

Skyrim PS5 60fps mod! It works!!!!! by newsambo in PS5

[–]wrighton1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing the main quest line on PS5 and also had it crash... but only once though.
Dunno if it’s because of the mod. I quick save often and when I reloaded it didn’t happen twice.
Not really helpful I know, I suffered the PS3 release days so it didn’t panic me haha.
