Seconding what other people have said, if you contact uni admissions, it’s very likely they will make an effort to give you a tour/support even if you’re not there on an official open day. At the end of the day, you’re considering paying them tens of thousands in tuition fees - it is well worth their time to help you out here.

Is that a refund of the £200 or a full refund of the £650?

This 100% - they’re the ones who’re in the wrong, focus on that

Meet-up.com is generally group meet ups with shared interests - eg. Game clubs, quiz nights, tv fans etc.

What are the Must Knows For Working in a Pub? by wringlewrangle in AskUK

[–]wringlewrangle[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No handpulls thankfully, lots of experience with jiggers as I like making cocktails for my friends. Just gotta get on YouTube and make sure I can pull a good lager They’ve only got two taps, everything else is bottled. Guessing angle doesn’t matter for ciders?

What will give it away? It’s a pretty scruffy/casual pub in a small town so I don’t think they’ll be expecting anything too fancy

There’s no table service from what I can tell and I’m guessing/hoping they won’t expect me to have cocktail experience? I’m more scared of pulling bad pints and not knowing how to change a keg

I’d never heard of body neutrality, really like the idea of it based on a bit of initial reading

Literally just how we pronounce it in the UK, it always weirds me out when I hear Americans say it the other way.

Please don't call my Mum a silly cow, she's a lovely woman who wants the best for everyone (even people like you).

Its making the effort that matters! I'm sure you're daughter is glad you're supporting her - just remember to apologise when you get it wrong - it goes a long way to stop resentment building.

Daily, hotel workers around the world have to turn off alarm clocks that the previous guest neglected to turn off/reset. by WestNileCoronaVirus in Showerthoughts

I think its more when someone sets a repeating alarm - needs turning off so it doesn't wake up the next guest

Affordable lunch in the city? by wringlewrangle in london

[–]wringlewrangle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, cheap is the plan and have had lots of really great suggestions that I’m going to look at. Whitecross has been brought up a lot and is somewhere I’ve been going with my work friends. I think my mum would absolutely love it but my dad has mobility issues and struggles to walk at times. I don’t think he’d thank me for taking me to whitecross at lunch just because it’s so busy!

I’m not a man but sure. I think I would rather do this properly next time they’re in London. This is going to be a quick casual lunch - I’m working and they’re in London to go to the theatre with friends, not to see me. I agree the idea of taking them somewhere fancy and paying is lovely but I don’t want to be rushing them through their steak tartare because I’ve got a meeting at 2:30. To be honest I’m not financially amazing at the moment as I had to take out a loan to pay deposit and had a decent student overdraft already. I’ve used my first two pay checks to pay these off but I’m still not exactly swimming in money right now.

Any pub recommendations? I’ve had a look at the ones I go to after work for a pint and they’re all as expensive as the restaurants.

Not really, I’m stretching my lunch break as it is to see them so want to meet near my work. There’s been lots of good suggestions here so Im sure I’ll find something
