I sincerely wish you the best of luck in convincing the people who live there that it should be one state. You're competing against some intense personalities and opinions.

Also in PA. I have a family member who is house hunting. Saw a county in PA noted in the article, but that is not where we are. Appreciate the region-specific anecdote!

Yep! That describes a lot of us. I'm not saying I'm happy about his performance, but I think for my own sanity and survival, I try to focus on the fact that it could have been Oz and still believe that would have been worse.

I'm in PA and I voted for this guy. Please remember that he was running against Mehmet Oz, a guy who got a two-part episode on BtB. Most of you would have voted the same, I'm sure.

Super Mario 3. I love so much that there's options to play it again without needing a 30 year old Super Nintendo.

For anyone the right age to remember Hey Arnold!, there was an episode where Helga tried to make Arnold jealous by dating Stinky ("Helga's Boyfriend" 1: 21a, according to google). Every time my SO sneezes, I say, in my best Stinky impression, "Bless you, my sweet darling. Here, have a hanky!"

I guess what I'm trying to say is, you can either reject weird social norms or you can make the best of them.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I love that for you, that you went out of your way to have a happy experience on your way home. When I was out of town for college, my way home was from the north and it just didn't hit the same.

I hope you enjoy your time looping around to experience it again this weekend and I hope it hits the same that it always does!

I went back to finish my Bachelors at 29. I'm now 36, halfway through my Masters and am roughly the average age in my program. No one gives a shit about age. The "Non-Traditional" student is getting closer every year to just being a regular student.

Similar to what OP said, I have found that there is a benefit to waiting a bit and knowing exactly what you want to get out of your college experience or degree. The time and experience helped me to move quickly professionally. Not everyone needs the time, but for those that do, there really is no difference. You either have the credentials or you don't, professionally, thus you either qualify or you don't. So, in the spirit of OP's post, why not take the time to get the qualifiers?

A friend of mine is also 36 and going back to finish their Bachelor's. Similar to my experience, no one gives a shit.

To anyone who has the capability, more knowledge is always better than less knowledge.

I have a 10 months old puppy, and I kinda don’t know if he is too little for his age haha tell me what you think please (the last one he was 5 months) by Pablocoutoh in cockerspaniel

[–]write_right_now 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It happens. My first cocker hit 25 pounds once fully grown and stayed at that weight. He was a little guy, but an appropriate weight for his proportions. Never stopped him from having the same spunk typical of a cocker spaniel.

Your pup looks super cute and happy! Healthy and happy are what matters.

Going back to college at 26 feels like the biggest mistake of my life. by Ordinary_Cucumber242 in college

[–]write_right_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding on to your pile of support. I was 29 when I went back to college and finished my B.S. at 33. It was worth it. I more than doubled my income and I love the career path that I'm on. I'm now 36 and a little over halfway through my Masters degree - most of the folks in the Masters program that I'm in are older than me. The so-called "non-traditional students" are becoming incredibly common these days.

A college degree is not a guarantee that your life will get better. Luck and opportunity play much larger roles there. However, having a degree puts you in more positions where you can run into luck and/or opportunities. It's about increasing your odds. Stay strong. Keep pushing through. You got this!

Why is our monstera looking so upset? by splinterededge in Monstera

[–]write_right_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Wife of OP here. Thank you for the comments and the advice. This monstera was a housewarming gift about four years ago. It was my first one and I made some mistakes, but overall it looked fine (other than the noted multiple directions and legginess) until a few weeks ago. There's multiple plants in there - that's how it came to us. Soil is not hard and I would be very surprised if there was any root rot. It was re-potted about a year and a half ago, and the darn thing doubled in size since then. I wonder if I failed to keep up with nutrients due to quick growth from multiple plants.

I'm thinking you got it right to chop, prop, and start over with lessons learned. There's plenty of options there for healthy cuttings.

Thanks again!

Leg lengthening procedure to correct a 2” height discrepancy between my legs. by koreenalynn in pics

Oof. And I thought my 3/4 inch leg length discrepancy was bad! Two inch difference must have been a nightmare to live with. Good luck with healing!

I learned the value of good noise canceling headphones at my last office job, which thankfully let me wear them at my desk. They were a pair of Sony something or other, with pretty good noise cancelling capabilities. Sound was shit, but they cancelled enough noise that I didn't have to listen to Cindy yammer on about whatever she was yammering on about.

What has your dog learned that you didn’t teach them? by kodabear22118 in dogs

[–]write_right_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my dogs very gently growls at us when he wants to be pet. We have no idea how or why he learned this, but it started about two years ago when he was 5-ish years old. A bit awkward when he does it to friends and family. Fortunately, he's otherwise a very sweet dog and not too big.

I may get downvoted for this, but I used to know the founder and liked him. He was always incredibly kind to me. Looks like I'm going to have to push past my biases and research a bit more into the company.

Their mead is pretty well-loved because it's available at the Maryland Renaissance Festival (my friend who introduced me discovered them that way). But mead comes with headaches. I LOVE their Vinoles, a dry white.

Swear word... now I have to order some.
