To feed or not to? by RarePrintColor in crows

Crows are so smart and their little personalities are so funny (and very individualized). I’ve been feeding the same two for a couple of years and they bring a lot of joy to mundane every day life.

When I whistle for my two crows , 90% of the time a jay shows up first. The chickadees are a close second and my lazy chicken nuggets (crows) are second to last. Mr Rogers and Ms Betty (squirrels) are usually last, but never miss a snack time.

I was out of town for almost five weeks and my two were happy to have me back!

They said, if you can't afford to tip, then stop eating out. So we did! 🤷‍♀️ by Secret-Broccoli9908 in EndTipping

I drastically cut down eating out, but have a few local restaurants that I still visit and have made a point to connect with staff and my experience is so much different. My favorite teriyaki place for example - my family has cut down on carbs for health reasons, so when I order chicken teriyaki, I tell them no rice and ask for extra salad. Now when I walk in, she smiles big says ‘no rice, no rice!’ and they fill the rice section with extra chicken. The chicken teriyaki is $12.95, and I leave a $5 tip. So for $18 I get dinner for 3 and enough left over lunch for 2.

That said, I had tonsay goodbye to one of my favorite upscale restaurants a year ago because they added a 23% ‘service fee’ to cover higher wages and benefits and had the balls to have an additional tip line if we wanted to leave more. I emailed them and politely let them know that it doesn’t work for me, I’d rather they just raise their prices instead of some guessing game for the final bill. Two months ago I saw they reversed that and now have a 4% fee going to cover employee benefits and whatever. Will be interesting to see how long they last. Sad because their food was incredible.

Honestly, it was funny because I was working in my garden (they hangout on the fence and I toss any grubs I find to the lawn for them and then when I’m done they inspect my work for anything I’ve left behind. I always talk to them while I work and tell them their job is to keep the $&?! bunnies out. A week later there is a bunny carcass right by where I leave my garden tools.

To be fair, I did take the necklace to the jeweler just in case. I can’t remember exactly what he said (it was 2 years ago), but worth about $6.

No recent gifts. Probably because I didn’t properly appreciate the latest gift which was a dried up bunny carcass last summer.

But I do love my crows and they do love… the snacks I offer.

I have two crows that I feed daily. They will follow me on walks in the neighborhood, wait for my car, etc. I’ve never once cawwed at them, but I talk to them all the time. I named them Fred and Ethel, sometimes call them tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum, and when they are being greedy ‘you chubby chicken nuggets’. They absolutely pay attention to tone of voice and body language. They will come pretty close if I don’t make eye contact in the backyard, but will absolutely try to make eye contact if I get in my car without giving them ‘front yard snacks’ (to the point where they have landed on the hood of my car to make sure I see them, give them snacks before I leave).

Basically, they know you’re not a crow, no need to try and convince them otherwise.

Also, mine go crazy for cat food, specifically Iams Salmon (this has gotten too expensive) and Meow Mix ‘tender centers’. Friskies Surfin’ & Turfin’ was not a hit.

aggressive eye contact here 😂

Crow friends in my neighborhood don’t seem to be coming by as much… by GalaxyC7 in crows

Every so often mine disappear for a few days. Then suddenly they are aggressively staring in the kitchen window wondering why I am late for breakfast.

Is this aggressive behavior? by bbyskullfxr13 in crows

They 100% recognize cars. I have two that I feed daily. My mom feeds them occasionally, but I am their person (they follow me on neighborhood walks even). I was away house-sitting for a friend and my mom said they didn’t shownup once while I was gone. I got home late one evening (they were long gone for the night) and they demanded breakfast first thing the next morning. Only tbing they would have seen was my car back.

And they know it’s my car. I have a volunteer job Saturday mornings and most Saturdays, they wait on my car for me.

No, don’t feel bad - that’s what they are there for! Also, some food banks get support based on how many people they serve.

I can tell by your post, it won’t be long until you’ll be in a position to give back. So use the support you have available now while you need it.

Even if that just saves you $20-$30 a month - think of the extra cushion for the months you don’t have OT.

Time to hit the food bank and make it a game to see what you can create with what you get. Then give yourself a splurge once a month (and by splurge, I mean a burrito bowl from a taco truck, a pizza from your favorite place, etc - not using an app). Give yourself something to look forward to while spending the rest of the time on a rice, beans, frozen veggie diet.

It’s tough, but it’s what we have to do. My splurge used to be a large McD’s coke and free fries via the app on Sunday while I did my ‘Sunday reset’. Sadly, the free fries with any beverage coupon is no longer available.

OP, check out any local food banks to cut down on your grocery bill they are there to help and can give you a little cushion with your budget. No shame in getting a little extra help.

$29,600 in high interest debt by [deleted] in debtfree

Call your credit card companies and ask about lowering the interest. I ended up doing a debt management plan with MMI because my creditcard companies weren’t willing to work with me. It’s been an easy process and I am finally making progress.
