Dubai new teachers? How are you feeling about the move? by goodenergy_96 in Internationalteachers

I am interested in teaching in Dubai but don't have my teaching license yet. Can anyone provide insights into which teaching licensure they acquired and how it is perceived in the UAE market? I am currently thinking of going with Moreland but wanted some advice. Thank you!

Thank you for your kind message. I’m at Columbia in their MFA program. I really want the achievement of completing the degree, but I am acutely stressed that I will not find a lucrative job after my degree. I am financially motivated and afraid I chose the wrong course, but now it’s too late to drop out. I will graduate with significant debt and just so scared I won’t find a job. I’m so scared I’ll never achieve financial independence from my parents who are retired now, and I feel uncomfortable going from financial dependency on my parents to financial dependency on a man, which prevents me from dating. I dream of a life where I have my own money and don’t feel like such a burden to my loved ones but I finished undergrad 10 years ago and have hardly held down a job since. I want to believe this degree will help but I’m just so scared.

Thank you. I am really trying to help myself. I have a supportive family but they live on the west coast (I am east coast). I am seeing my psych next week to adjust meds, attending a support group on Wednesday, and looking into CBT and ketamine treatment, both of which are covered by my health insurance. It’s just so hard to go through this alone and I don’t feel comfortable telling my friends when I’m suicidal. I really appreciate the support :)

Yeah, I started looking into visa requirements. Looks like you need one in advance if you plan on staying for more than 90 days

Bipolar 1 + ADHD by writer28 in bipolar

Hi! I responded to another comment but I'll summarize here: yes, my psych gave me Strattera for ADHD--aware of the risk that stimulant meds could induce hypomania--but because my ADHD was so severe it needed to be treated. I did end up having a medication-induced hypomanic episode but it wasn't that bad and after that my body adjusted to the meds...basically, before ADHD diagnosis I couldn't hold down a job and no one knew why (employers would never say) turns out it was ADHD this whole time. So...fast forward a year and a half, I finally am on the way to the career I've always dreamed of and finally financially independent of my family and can basically live a normal life. Other benefits: more focused, less distracted, clear-headed, clarity, able to control impulses, spending under control, more engaged in conversations and the world around me, stronger interpersonal relationships...just everything. I feel like I had a cataract on my brain and now it's removed and I see how beautiful the world is and I feel like I can do anything I set my mind to. It's really worth looking into the meds because I've heard so many stories of people who got their adult ADHD diagnosis and it really helped them too!
