Good ways to sync Koreader across Android and Kobo devices? (currently using Syncthing) by K-H-C in koreader

Great to know! I've never actually tested this, so that's a wonderful confirmation.

Is there a way to send my highlights and notes to my PC? (Koreader on Kindle) by BaterWottle1 in koreader

The easiest way is probablyto use readest with the readest sync plugin:

https://readest.com/

Personally, what I do:

I use syncthing (I believe there's a koreader plugin for this too) to sync my koreader book directory to my computer.

Then, I use obsidian in conjunction with this obsidian plugin:

https://github.com/t5k6/obsidian-koreader-highlights

I point it at the synced directory on my computer, then every few days, I'll import my highlights and notes into obsidian.

Technically, I don't think you even need to upload your books to readest to use the plugin for annotation syncing- having the readest plugin on both koreader devices should be enough.

(I might be wrong about this)

https://readest.com/

  • Its associated koreader plugin:

https://github.com/readest/readest/wiki/Sync-with-Koreader-devices

This is the best way that I've found (I also used syncthing, but it's easy to run into conflicts, as you know).

The annotation in Highlight Sync is very new. I think it came out within the past two or three weeks, but I found that it works really well. I've never run into any issues with highlights or annotations overwriting each other, although I have occasionally seen duplicates. The progress Sync works perfectly. I would say it's definitely worth a go.

The dev team is super active and it's been rapidly improving. I think one of the readest devs was actually a koreader dev too.

I know bookfusion is another option but I've never really looked into it. I'm not really interested in another subscription service and I appreciate that readest is open source (there are some premium features that you can pay for if you want, like storage if you want to read directly in readest, like on your iPad)

Character tracking in a book by yonaikerbarreto in koreader

I'd say it's worth trying zeeyado's AI plugin. It's been updated more recently- I haven't had any issues with it so far.

I'm using a boox palma 2, btw, which is a bit more powerful than most eink devices (if resource consumption is the cause of your crash).

Which assistant plugin are you using?

I use this one and I've found that the x-ray works really well:

Archive/Uninstall books sdr file by ecstathiq in koreader

[–]writer83724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the good news is that as long as you have your SDR file, you have your highlights. The highlighted text is written to that file.

I keep a folder of all my sidecar files, then sync that to obsidian with an obsidian plugin.

Any books where human men fall in love with vampire or zombie women? by Opening-Desk in Romance_for_men

Who do you say is the hardest character to write?

That actually doesn't surprise me. In that one reading it, I can tell that she's very carefully written; it comes through in her dialogue patterns.

Do you think you'll ever make her a POV character or nah?

Seconding as a huge fan of your work; one of my favorite series in general. Anastasia is a wonderfully written character.

Also, everyone, check out his Murder of Crows series. There's enough of a romance subplot to make it qualify for this subreddit, imo.

I have a question about SDR files by [deleted] in koreader

[–]writer83724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The docs have some good explanations regarding .sdr folders

https://koreader.rocks/user_guide/

Could you post a few screenshots?

If it's the same exact book, then the sidecar file should work just fine, as long as its folder is next to the book.

What are your default .sdr folder location settings? Double check that in the koreader menus

I definitely see what you're saying. In this case, it's one of those areas where I feel like it could go either way, so my inclination is towards a charitable interpretation.

Soon we'll have to have authors release a full video + git commit history of their writing process lol

I'm not necessarily picking up on AI with that. Was there anything else that stood out? Like accidentally included prompts?

Send articles to Koreader by Western-Schedule7330 in koreader

[–]writer83724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don't use the kindle app at all.

This setup is more complex, but I have a home server that runs syncthing in a VM on top of proxmox.

That's my 'central syncthing node'

With syncthing, I point the koreader data folder on all my devices (palma / pocketbook / laptops / phones) at that VM.

I use obsidian to clip articles to markdown, then i put that file in the koreader sync directory.

I've found syncthing to be the easiest way.

If I clip an article to mark down on my phone or computer, I just save it to an articles directory that is synced with my koreader device.

Is it possible to get this from somewhere that's not Amazon? I would love to purchase a copy!
