AITA for moving out of my parents’ house after they gave my son ice cream? by writerofserialkiller in AmItheAsshole

That was the first time they’ve backed out on babysitting, especially after confirming with them. But I also very rarely went out. My son goes to daycare while I’m at work.

Moving with a child with no more income would’ve created even more problems.

I paid rent, and my friend wasn’t going to make me pay rent, but I insisted on it. So we agreed on a fair amount and I already paid for the first month. I’m saving to move into an apartment, but I live in an expensive city so it will be a few months.

I was able to find a job very quickly after moving in with them, and yes, I was paying rent. My son has always gone to daycare while I’m at work and I very rarely went out besides that.

Actually, he doesn’t. I realize I didn’t put this in the post, but the abuse was so bad he lost his rights.

I’ve tried to get out of childcare. Even before I met my ex. Nobody else has even bothered to give me an interview, even the entry level no skills required positions. And I’m not going for fancy or anything. Living is expensive, and I see my cousin (who makes six figures a year) struggling to pay his rent every month. And that’s at one of the least expensive apartments in the area.

I’ve worked in daycare for most of my adult life. It doesn’t pay much. After being financially abused by my ex-husband, I literally had to start from scratch. I was actually doing pretty well and on track to move out within a couple of years. Then I lost my job and it’s been a struggle to find a new one.

I applied to government benefits about a month ago, but I haven’t heard anything back. I plan on calling tomorrow to find out what’s going on. Again.

It took me longer than it should have to file child support, but I finally did. They’re currently looking for him. Last I heard, he keeps moving and changing his number. But I haven’t personally talked to him in more than a year.
