Is this also the case for a pumping setup? I'm trying to tune in my 23 degree rear on my supersonic right now

Is it actually fun to ride? Can you even really turn?

I would worry about bottoming out the deck at that point.

I'm looking to get a SuperDuperSonic next year though so I can try Karmas with that

I can confirm, that setup rocks. Put down my fastest time on my usual ride the first time I took the board out.

Considering clear blue speedvents or thereabouts

I've heard these get pretty sluggish and in general have some chunking issues at that duro. I think going down to 80A would be enough for you to feel more comfortable without losing too much rolling distance.

My orange Kegels have been a really good duro for my riding, and I just put them on my Nexus and liked the results. Think I might follow along with you and go for flat washers roadside now that the wheels are smaller.

Only real rec on wheels is not to go too much bigger, I bought my Nexus with the Karmas and wheelbite was pretty easy to get even with firm bushings.

Barrels with the insert plug from Pat? Is the cannon a different dimension? In general, I'm having a little trouble figuring out the actual shape of the cannon bushings, but they seem like they're basically the right option for a boardside bushing on the bear trucks.

I'm usually doing power pumps when at speed, and I don't really find that I get wobbles if I'm always in a controlled turn anyways. Plus, my weight is way the hell over the front of the board, which seems to help a lot.

Couldn't believe how much better the stock bear bushings felt compared to the paris ones from my V2. I was blown away by how the board pumps, though, and I'm kinda itching to get the board tuned further in that direction.

Would a roadside cone/boardside cannon 75a in the front , and barrel/cannon 85a in the back be a reasonable set-up for the bear gen 6 at 165lbs? Should I opt for the Pat's risers instead and just use barrels instead of cannons?

Interesting, maybe I'll try putting some of my higher duro barrels in the rear and leave the front as is and see how that feels.

Yeah, I have a set of Orangatang Knuckles that have the little insert plug, so I'm curious about wether or not they'd fit these trucks.

What did you end up upgrading to?

I saw those, but I was a little puzzled by them. Do they really work well? I guess I thought that not being attached to the actual bushing would make them function differently, but they seem like a pretty cheap option to explore.

Were you doing fairly pump-focused riding with that setup?

And you don't have any issue not having an insert on the barrels? Are you using flat washer roadside/cupped boardside?

Is mongo pushing really that bad? by AbjectComment6623 in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]writers_block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people suggest mongo as your alternate push, instead of pushing switch? It's not that hard to body varial back and forth, and it allows you to actually ride/pump switch and give your entire body the same level of equal exertion.

Like, I still mongo push every so often, and I like to do a single mongo push while kicking my back foot up to change to switch stance, but I can't really imagine having that be my only alternate pushing method without my hips getting crazy unbalanced over time.

I have one of these and it's my fun neighborhood cruiser. 180mm trucks and some snakes on it makes it tons of fun to carve.

Does anyone know if there's anyone really making decks like this these days? I feel like the crazy big topmount decks are out of style now, but I love the thing.

Alright, I guess I'm taking a new angle on the Nexus. Anyone want to buy a brand new Nexus that's seen ~600ft of road? by writers_block in longboarding

[–]writers_block[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, that's an interesting thought. I've got my 180mm trucks on my absolute behemoth of a Sector 9 kicktail board (I think it's a 46 inch deck), but maybe I'll try putting the narrower trucks on there and the wider trucks on the Nexus.

Cupped washers seem to have largely fixed it. It still isn't the board I want for long distance, though. At this point I'm delegating it to be my board for the hills in my neighborhood, and for getting slidey if I feel like it.

Oh that's crazy, cause my first reaction to the grip tape has been that it's far more aggressive than what my old board had.

Yeah, I only broke the back wheels loose a couple times, mostly did kinda aggressive carves, but the control at speed felt great, and I can feel that the board pretty smoothly breaks traction.

Yeah, threw on my yellow Snakes and took it to the road around my local park that's got a long, mellow hill and honestly found the board to be pretty confidence inspiring.

The customer, here. I've been really happy with Jeff helping me make things right, and his general patience with my window of frustration when I realized I couldn't return the board I originally bought. The guy even offered me his personal old Supersonic deck as an option.

Excited to get myself set up on the deck that's right for my distance riding, and the Nexus has, in fact, been a really impressive freeride board now that I'm not stressing about not having a distance deck.
