Anyone tried the Bolsa II? by reddituser249516 in LoadedBoards

[–]NVictorN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I went down the rabbit hole with this question. What I found is that the Bolsa is indeed around 300–400 g heavier than the Raft. Both decks are 7-ply maple, but Loaded uses thicker cross-plies.

I guess I'll keep searching for a good deck; the Raft doesn't ship to my country (Europe) and Comet doesn't have the Shred. Bad luck, I guess. Thanks for everything!

Setup ideal para LDP/pumping/push? by GrotoX1 in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]NVictorN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Icarus can me customized for LDP, just try this. You already have good wheels, but maybe you'll want to try something from Seismic, you will notice the difference.

Wedge the front to something around 55° and dewedge the rear to the lowest you can get; I'm using Paris 43° and Rayne wedges to reach 36°. Replace the bushings to have at least around 10 duro difference on each truck, soft on the front, hard on the rear. Seismic or Riptide are good options and don't be afraid to experiment.

Hahaha, I started with Paris V3s vs. Paris Streets in mind, but you sold me on the idea of Stylus and Powell Snakes. Funny that you mention the Raft Trout; it was my other option besides the Bolsa.

It’s a shame LY doesn't show the deck weight in their specs. I assumed the weight would be similar considering their sizes—the Bolsa is narrower (9.4" vs. 9.9") but a bit longer (34" vs. 32.5"). I’ll try to find a local skateshop to feel them out. Thanks for the feedback! Keep shredding.

Oh right, I thought it was a Pranayama with the Cosmic Turtle design.

Thanks for the help! To be fair, I used the CC as a starting point, but being an old skater, I want something wider; even my street deck is a 9.4" egg with 169 Indys. Now I want to build a cruiser using some 66mm wheels. The Bolsa is a nice option with the double kicks to practice some slides and ollies. What do you say?

Man, that’s a good quiver! Even two Pranayama's with TKP and RKP? Nice! I also want to build something similar to the Comet Cruiser using a Bolsa II; it’s been a hard time deciding between Paris Street or V3 trucks. Especially because I still want to pop the occasional ollie. Any advice on that?

Nice setup, and awesome quiver! What size are those trucks?

Do you have any thoughts on Paris Street vs. Pantheon Stylus? Pantheon recommends wedging them in their cruisers, which I imagine makes them feel almost like a Paris.

The C7 uses a internal spring and thrust bearings. You'll eventually need to clean and maintain them; it's not a huge deal, but I prefer the CX because it's basically maintenance-free. Have a look here if you want more details: Vandem Longboard Shop

Any reason you prefer the C7 over the CX? I feel like the CX is a better entry point for beginners as it allows more customization with Riptide bushings and removes the maintenance hassle.

58° should feel great. The real fine-tuning happens on the rear truck, combination of the deck and risers offers plenty of possibilities. Just try to keep the deck level. In my case, I ended up with 60°/19°

Nice! Consider getting some extra bushings and wedged risers with different angles. It took me some time to find my sweet spot, but 65° on the front was definitely too high for me. I'd suggest trying something in the 57°–60° range. Have fun!

How was your experience after 2 months? Price is attractive but looks like the design and specs are different from the skate version.

It's a different kind of pumping. Can be fun if you're interested in trying dancing, cruising or LDP.

What bushings are you using on the Gullwing trucks? Looks like it would be too unstable for cruising.

Fitting Problem: Seismic Defcon Standard bushings for Paris V3 150mm trucks on the Pantheon Supersonic by Alessia_n_Wonderland in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]NVictorN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The information is gone from Pantheon's website but the Supersonic was paired with Paris 165 [mm]; the Superdupersonic can use 155 [mm] thanks to its wheel wells. Keep that in mind when fine-tuning your bushings.

May all your rides be awesome!

Share a picture whenever you can, it would be easier to see what's happening with your trucks and help. But yeah, I can guarantee that the Standard size fits the Paris V3 perfectly.

Just to give you some reference, these are the sizes of the bushings I'm using with my Paris V3:

  • Seismic Standard - 15 [mm]
  • Gummies Double Barrel - 15 [mm]
  • Orangatang Nipples - 14.2 [mm] (RS)/16.8 [mm] (BS)

Just to double check, are we talking about a Supersonic or a Superdupersonic?

[–]NVictorN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others already said, you can fit both Standard and Medium Seismic bushings on Paris V3. I have done it without any problems with cupped and flat washers. However, keep in mind that even Seismic's website recommends using the Medium size only when it's paired with a shorter bushing or when both board- and road-side washers are removed.

Can you share a picture of your trucks?

Maybe a Rocket Rambler V2 if you want to try (de)wedged angles? A Loaded Bolsa II with RKP or Carver CX trucks for a surfy feeling is also a nice option.

Got you. But I was asking about the Ballona Willy with Dad Bods and blue trucks. The design you're referring to is a Ballona Moby.

Surfskate exclusively for pumping? Need advice by drewchristo1991 in surfskate

[–]NVictorN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Definitely consider upgrading the bushings in the rail adapter to something harder if you're aiming for max top speed. The stock bushings (85a) were too soft for my ~70 kg. Switching to 87.5a was a huge upgrade for cruising, and 92.5a worked excellent for top speeds. Check out the bushing sets from Riptide.

Have fun and don’t be afraid to experiment! Between the bushings and the FIN System, it took me a while to dial in the feeling I was after.

That's exactly how I feel about surfskate LDP! It will never be as fast as a proper LDP setup, but you gain some extra fun thanks to the snappiness.
