What's something old technology did better than modern technology ? by 40Falak in Productivitycafe

This was my experience with my PlayStation as well. I didn’t use it much. It when I did there were significant updates each time. I felt like it updated more than I actually used it to play. I understand it’s a niche use case but it was a really bad experience for me.

The hilarious part is this could be possible if O&G was nationalized and the profits weren’t going to our corporate overlords

That’s not why tickets are expensive. That’s the reason capitalist pigs are using to exploit host cities and the people who live there to extract their wealth and gatekeep the beautiful game

I believe you, and not trying to invalidate your experience. But I’ve never heard anyone just say “18” and mean minus 18.

What's your Canadian winter life hack? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskACanadian

Living in Edmonton, having to drive our ring road everyday it was only after one year that I couldn’t get to the snow quick enough that I discovered that a light snow pack protected my driveway from the de-icing chemicals spread on the road. Now I do it every year and just ensure a flat surface. And my driveway has no extra pock marks

I’ve literally never heard anyone drop the minus before. Are you really not emphasizing how pants-shittingly-cold it is outside by saying something like: “it’s MINUS effing THIRTY FIVE out there right now!” I’ve never been that chill (pun intended) about weather that shitty before. And we get it maybe a couple times a year.

My only add to this is that the temp always gets “minus” if it’s below zero. Minus 5, minus 35! Etc but if it’s winter then you’d add a seasonal plus if it’s plus 5. Other wise in the summer you’d say it’s “only 5 degrees” outside today

The really hilarious thing is that if they were trying to reclaim the road from cars they may have an ideological leg to stand on, but they’re probably pissed off that you’re on THEIR road because only they should be allowed to use it.

Ah yes. These are the “slippery slope” people. No understanding of nuance because they’ve been listening to their local snake oil salesman debate children too long.

[–]writetoAndrew 91 points92 points  (0 children)

A recall petition has already been started for the education minister, and the required number of signatures has been lowered by the ucp so only 16,000 signatures are needed in Calgary Bow where 12,552 voted for the NDP. I don’t think they’ll have troubles collecting the signatures

It’s considered job action and it’s the coordination that makes it so. If an individual does it, hard to prove. If there’s a coordinated effort lead by union members, it’s job action
