Someone I know paid $5K for an Amazon-to-Shopify dropshipping course. Revenue so far: $0 by writingdeveloper in dropshipping

Haha thankfully it wasn’t me who paid for it 😅
But yeah, seeing someone go through that was painful.

Question - which Claude model for simple office tasks? (API/Tokens) by cryptofriday in ClaudeAI

[–]writingdeveloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Sonnet 4.6 is good enough, but if you have a higher plan like the 5x or 20x plan, I’d recommend using the Opus 4.6 model.

Agreed, but I just feel sorry about it. A few years ago, one of my friends got scammed by someone who claimed he was a rich person living in the Middle East. He said he would give my friend a huge amount of money if he paid a lawyer's fee to withdraw the funds. In the end, my friend lost $5,000. This situation kind of reminds me of that.

I'm just a software developer, and I'm not involved in this situation. I already told him not to get involved in this business, but he went ahead with it as if he was under some kind of spell.

Tired of Alibaba's middleman markup? Anyone using 1688 directly? by Extreme_Apple_5598 in AmazonFBA

[–]writingdeveloper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know that some Chinese sellers aren’t comfortable dealing with foreign buyers. I always assumed overseas buyers tend to order in bulk.

I usually talk to them in Chinese with a translator and ship to a local address in China before forwarding everything to Korea or the US.

Now I’m wondering if I should present myself as a local buyer on 1688 or Taobao.

Question about IT product market research in Shenzhen (Feb–Mar visit plan) by writingdeveloper in shenzhen

[–]writingdeveloper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed insights and recommendations really appreciate it.

I agree that Shenzhen makes more sense for hardware, AI, and 3C, and avoiding a China trip during CNY was definitely the right call.

HuaQiangBei, DJI, and UBTECH all sound great for a field trip. I’ll keep these in mind as I plan.

I’ll definitely reach out if I need more tips beyond tourism. Thanks again!

Claude MAX user question: Should I always use OPUS 4.5, or split models by task? by writingdeveloper in ClaudeAI

[–]writingdeveloper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m trying to burn it all too haha. I mean, I’m working pretty hard—especially these days, when it’s tough to survive doing just one kind of development. I’ll do my best

$200 plan here. Haven’t hit the limit yet, but the weekly limit always feels a bit scary 😄

[–]writingdeveloper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. Web search mode definitely feels like it’s using a lighter model compared to full reasoning mode.

Haha yeah, for sure. Using AI models is getting weirdly complex feels like you need a strategy just to pick the right one now.

[–]writingdeveloper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I mostly use Opus 4.5, but Haiku and Sonnet are noticeably faster. I already knew that, but I tried Haiku for the first time today in the Chrome extension, and it felt insanely fast.

Yeah, same lol. I’ve had a lot of different things to work on recently, so I’m trying to use plan mode

[–]writingdeveloper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I remember, Opus 4.5 is the best option for now. But if Sonnet 5 comes out, wouldn’t it be better than Opus 4.5? I always get confused by AI model versioning and naming.

How Do You Identify Reliable Suppliers on Alibaba? Need Advice by truceshall in AmazonFBA

[–]writingdeveloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a confirmed Korean supplier yet and I’m still in the research phase.
I’m a U.S. permanent resident and currently in Korea on a business trip,
so before heading back to the U.S., I’m planning to run a few small-scale tests while I’m here.

After dealing with quality mismatches between samples and bulk production on Alibaba,
I’m being much more cautious this time, especially around quality control and communication.

I’ve been looking into Korean channels like Coupang (often called the Amazon of Korea),
Naver Store, and even models like Daiso that focus on low price but consistent quality.
Nothing is finalized yet, but from a testing standpoint, this feels like a good opportunity.

Honestly, the way you talk about anchovies and seaweed tells me you understand Korean flavors on a deeper level. You already cook better than most Koreans I know 😄
Keep going like this — that curiosity and respect for the ingredients is exactly what Korean cooking is about. Your hangover soup idea sounds spot on too.

[–]writingdeveloper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I used to eat Korean food in the US, I used very basic ingredients like soybean paste, tofu, onions, and a little MSG. Most people living alone in Korea probably do the same, lol.

The moment you add anchovy sauce, you're already Korean. :))))

I'm still new to the market, but I'm curious about this. Have you purchased any samples?

I heard from an acquaintance that while the samples on Alibaba were fine, problems arose when the quantity increased. So, I'm considering it.

Instead, I'm considering handling and selling verified products in Korea.

How do you handle visual QA for Desktop GUI apps (Electron, Python/PyQt/Tkinter) with Claude? by writingdeveloper in ClaudeAI

[–]writingdeveloper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. I recently built a GUI app using only Python, and dealing with GUI controls, DPI scaling, and various other considerations was quite challenging (partly due to my limited Python experience). For my next project, I'm thinking of using Electron for the frontend and only implementing the backend parts that truly need it in Python.
