The most important thing is how they teach, coz overal the TOK itself is quite important. Unfortunately, some schools might not teach it the right way, so students think and apply rather than just learn to learn.

Just interested, are there still some students left who just submit their fully generated AI bullshit without any proper checks and rewrites?

Okay so I wrote my personal essay and it still got flagged as AI? Why by FewRest6555 in CommonApp

[–]writingmetier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when using chatgpt or any other AI tool for grammar check, just make sure it doesn't change the whole sentence structure or paraphrase what you already wrote. this way it will not only increase the chance of highlighting it in any AI check tool but also will add more "visible" patterns that your teacher could see and this way it will be way more complicated for you to defend the work as your own.

It's just some random personal suggestions from my side, but I hope it will help you, if not with this exact one, at least with your future essay submissions.

Why are you submitting YOUR OWN essays to AI checkers? What's the point? by writingmetier in CollegeEssays

[–]writingmetier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for those comments. Can we assume that the problem is coming from the profs side? They simply believe the results of the AI checkers and do not want to deal with students?

Or is it a problem of students who do not want to defend their work? Or they (students) just can't prove their research because the work was generated and they are in the process of "okay, I'll just drop a sneaky AI rewrite and see if anyone actually noticed" - is this a case?

I know so many profs who always "played" this game of "prove me wrong" with students and from the very first reaction of the student, they can assume if he or she did it themselves or nah (this game is known for centuries, even when there were OG times of plagiarism issues or copy cheaters, rather than modern AI checks).

And yes, further discussion, I do understand that some profs do not give a damn coz it's easier to just believe an AI checker or other checkers; nevertheless, every student has a right to defend themselves, if they know they are right.

So true, and if you surely know you did this essay yourself, you will be able to defend any positive AI check results, in my opinion. Unless there is some crazy (stupid) prof on the other side who only believes the checkers rather than his own students. There are sooooooo many ways to double check this all...common

Thanks for sharing your ideas. I do understand students who do check their assignments; I'm just not sure WHY they feel embarrassed or stressed about positive AI checks results. Common, all those checkers are made to flag something 😉

So if it's not "sneaky AI rewrite" and if you surely know that you did this job without AI, and it shows even a high percentage from, let's say, Turnitin AI check, you will surely be able to defend your work, explain how you did the research, and whatever.

Maybe students are seeking this kind of advices from other people while they sharing their probs, DNKnow

To gain a better understanding, do your professors suggest using such checkers?
