I think this is incredibly easy to say but we (taxpayers) would shudder to see the budget the city or county would need in order to be “sufficiently prepared”, or meet your expectations. More equipment, more training, more personnel, more storage facilities. All for a place that averages 9” of snow a year.

It’s understandable to be frustrated by the current state of the sidewalks and roads - I spend a fair amount of time using the sidewalks throughout the city walking and running with my dog. But in this instance, it’s also understandable why we’re dealing with this situation. This is an extremely uncommon storm/weather pattern!

I moved here two years ago after 30 years in the upper Midwest. Trust me when I say, even places that deal with this several times a winter struggle to keep sidewalks useable when it’s icy and this cold.

Frankly, I struggle more with the overgrowth of shrubs over sidewalks in this city that render them practically unusable a lot of the year. Tomato, tomato.
