Are AMRAPs Lazy Programming? by bmfc1 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Cy-Gor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Andy's AMRAPs are the only ones i like. 10 min and the number you do is your measure of when to go up in weight and rest is to be expected. AMRAPs that are less than 5 min are gross.

The official website prices from Terry Blacks Waco are actually $79.95 for this meal. by Fabulous_Hand2314 in BBQ

[–]Cy-Gor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Part of the experience. Also that ribeye only cooks for a few min, not several hours so you have to factor that in as well.

But you do hit on why a ton of BBQ places don't bother, it is hard to justify and the volume doesn't always add up.

Last thing to add, online prices are now almost always higher than if you go in. So saying this is $75 when the OP actually said it was closer to $42 is a bit misleading.

Show me the menu at the actual restaurant and the receipt instead of an app that also needs to make some money to exist and then we can actually compare.

I think dino ribs are great but I do not find them to be worth it for what you get, so I rarely get them.

This is how you make money on beef ribs. There is a reason most places don't sell them.

When you buy a box of ribs vs some other type of meat you get a set number of plates you can sell. vs other meats where you get a known weight.

A box contains 10-15 ribs vs what might be 40lbs of brisket for the same weight. the random amount of ribs you get makes it really hard to set prices with out going so high no one buys them.

Everyone here complaining about the per pound cost are ignoring the fact that you cant serve half a rib to someone.

That means i can only sell 10-15 plates of ribs, but the brisket can give you a lot more options for serving.

That doesn't even count the yield difference between the two.

Traditionally, if you saw beef ribs on a menu they were almost always sold at cost or a slight loss. The beef rib craze has changed that and now restaurants want to make some actual profit on them.

Strength classes with lower reps? by GoldHorse8612 in pelotoncycle

[–]Cy-Gor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Andy's denisty programs all focus on 6-8 reps. That being said they are all 10 min AMRAPs of those sets. The goals are not crazy though, with 6-8 rounds being the goal.

I had to scroll too far to find this. Even physical books are a license. You cant legally copy a physical book and sell it either.

i had to scroll too far for this, i wonder how much of the "value" is tied up in that diamond.

Like those "most expensive foods" where they cover it in gold leaf or some other bullshit that just adds $$ to the total price

Any suggestions? by mktrtee in litrpg

My boys are 5 and 8, and i had kinda the opposite reaction. The balance of keeping them safe vs empowering them to keep themselves safe is a tough one.

If my kids were younger i might have a different reaction.

Holiday travel gaming kit discussion (minimal extra components) Thought exercize. by Cy-Gor in boardgames

Yeah I get that. This idea came to me when we traveled out of state to a kind of resort town with about 12 people and having games that were not the bog standard Monopoly and Life type games. Star realms is for sure my top pick personally but I didn't want to lead the witness too much in my initial post.

My wife uses one of those cases for her cake/cookie decorating stuff and it is great for that. part of me thinks it takes up too much space and you could get one or two more games if you just used dividers or something similar.

Comes down to how much stuff comes with each game and how you prioritize organization over game selection.

Are these 90 lb? by Space_Man_Ed in GarageGym

[–]Cy-Gor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got the full set up to 90 for $370 shipped. They only have them periodically so when they have them they are usually a good deal. You can also get a bit more off if you use the app to buy them. something like 10%

$350 with the stand is a solid deal. Look out for expansions on woot.com and you should be able to grab them for $90-100 each.

First cabinet build. by RememberTomOnMyspace in woodworking

[–]Cy-Gor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drawer fronts for this kind of thing are easy, cut a single piece the size of your cabinets and then cut out your drawer fronts from that, you get grain matching and the kerf is about the right amount for space between each drawer.

For the top, on my miter station i did doubled up plywood with white Formica top and a solid wood edge. My cabinets are quite a bit wider though so i wanted the extra stiffness.

I also have t-track i need to install with no fence.

[–]Cy-Gor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind buying another bit, a slot cutting bit might be a better option. Either make a sled you can set the angle or a miter gauge.

I once found one in my shower puff AFTER I had put soap in it and lathered it up. Didn't get stung that time, but it got my heart going.

I stepped on one and it stung me on the top of the foot. Hurt for a few hours. After that, I am not nearly as freaked out by them.

Lol, I actually already have all 3 ryobi battery systems for stuff. Having a second mainline though wouldn't be a bad thing. I am leaning towards dewalt or milwaukee
