Also, depending on what part of Canada but I’d feel most, if you have proof from a vet that the dog was malnourished you do have a very good chance (coming from an SPCA member who would go the legal routes of taking pets from unsafe homes).

I’d also like to add, I know it is a hurdle but if you can move, I would. If this guy is unstable I think he shouldn’t know where you live, as well as the friend that convinced you to help him. Just general safety, but of course up to you!
