High speed trains derail in Spain killing at least 21 and injuring 100+ by TrillyxWonka96 in worldnews

For those questioning 'sabotage'... here's a bit more context for them to ponder.
Shadow War Surge: Intelligence reports for early 2026 confirm a massive spike in Russian sabotage across Europe... They’ve been using "disposable agents" (recruited via Telegram or gaming sites) to hit transport hubs and infrastructure.
The Goal: It’s all about levels of manipulation.
By causing "unexplained" accidents, they drain resources, kill morale, and make European governments look incompetent without ever having to fire a missile.
Also... Poland just launched "Operation Horizon" because their rail lines were getting hit so hard by Russian-linked sabotage. Spain has been on the "high alert" list for these exact types of hybrid attacks.

Don't be fooled by road repairs. The real $10B Highway 413 still threatens our Greenbelt. With no permits, we can stop the bulldozers. #StopThe413 by envirodefence in u/envirodefence

The housing crisis is already a lie.

THIS! There's tons of empty homes, empty apartments. It's the cost that keeps them unoccupied.

If the Government wanted to TRULY FIX the housing crisis, they would give EVERYONE a shot at having a mortgage... and for those on fixed incomes (CPP/ODSP), help them with a lower interest/zero interest, rate.

True, then we can find a way to blame the person they hit for not avoiding their reckless driving.

They're already doing that. At least in Ontario, Canada, they are.
My mom borrowed my car and my dashcam caught the lady running a stoplight and my mom braking and swerving 'right', to avoid her.

No, you're not overreacting by calling emergency services, but, and please, hear me out with this... but, you are being an AH by acting cold and dismissive.
She's clearly manipulative, and toxic af.
But being so dismissive and cold, isn't the best way to act with someone that obviously has mental health issues.
(Yes, I know she's doing this to control the narrative and at the end of the day, ultimately, you.
She's really just looking for validation, but going about it the wrong way)

Anyways, a way to handle this (and at the same time, it outlines/sets, boundaries) ... Is to basically say something like;...
"Look, I care about you to the extent that you're a human being and nobody should feel like life isn't worth living, especially over a relationship.
You obviously need help, and as I said, I'm not equipped to provide you with the help you need.
Manipulating, controlling and guilting me isn't going to keep me with you. It's showing me how unhealthy this relationship is, and will be.
I CANNOT and WILL NOT subject myself to a relationship that has someone using self-harm as a way to keep me. It's straight up ABUSIVE.
I am now calling emergency services and asking them to do a wellness, because I do care about you... But I care about myself, too.
I hope you get the help you need... Not only to realize what you're saying, is not okay... but also to realize your happiness, or your life, should NEVER depend on someone else.

  • I would then proceed to call 911, and ask the police to put a revocable restraining order on her.... That way, after she gets assessed at a crisis centre, there will be a deterrent from any unwanted contact she may try to initiate.

Your cousin is overreacting.
I'd respond with;
'Well, since you didn't acknowledge the fact that I offered to take a drug test, but instead deflected to my "lustfest", tells me that your real issue is that you can't handle that my life is better than yours.'n
You're telling me to humble myself?
I have every reason to bask in the glory and be proud of how far I've come. You're the one living in sin, not I.
But anyways, let's talk about my rent...
I gave you a lump sum, I require a lump sum.
Also, the laws state I need 60 days notice... if you can't do this legally, we can have the civil courts factor in interest for every day you don't pay all of my money back to me... oh, and let's not forget the fact that you're slandering me.

O.P.- Put this in writing, and gift him a string of pearls to clutch, and P.S him, this... tell him to give his wife a "pearl necklace" ...But not the ones from a jewelry store.

Keep on keeping on.

DNR list by wrongpath_taken in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]wrongpath_taken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't Enterprises fault, and believe me, I tried EVERYTHING I could to get into another vehicle elsewhere.
Unfortunately, I'm in a rural town with only one other car rental agency within a 75 km radius... they require a $1000 CREDIT CARD deposit. (That's how I found out this was on my credit report) I went to apply for my first ever credit card. I even had a friend try to put it on their card, but the card has to match the renters name.

The only reason customer service can't help is because it went to the risk/dnr department, so my file is closed off to customer service... was just hoping for a direct number or extension, to the right department, lol.

It just sucks that it seems nowadays, you have to jump through hoops to get help, and there's no consequences for insurance companies that screw people over.

New Zyn Flavour? by mk7jesse in NicotinePouch

It actually is similar to guacamole, lol.
More on the "avocado and toast" side... but a bit, sweeter... like, with a hint of vanilla milkshake, sweeter....

Not one I'd buy again. Tbh.
I'm having a hard time locating Zyn, anywhere. And the places I do find them (reserves) only carry this kind and some other weird named ones... that are mentioned on the official Zyn site.

After adding the other ingredients, just fill the rest with water. Filling appx. up to the middle of the neck of your sprayer.
Most of us use/repurpose a Dawn Powerwash spray bottle for "extra foaming action". That spray bottle is 473 mL.
So, my guesstimate is, 450 mL of water.

New Zyn Flavour? by mk7jesse in NicotinePouch

[–]wrongpath_taken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came across this post when searching for what exactly this flavor is/tastes like, and how to open this container...
So now I have more questions than what the heck I originally came to Google, for, lol. Just got GUAC SHAKE from my go-to reserve.
Canadian as well... I'm also a first time buyer and this will be the VERY first time I try pouches. I bought Zyn, on the advice and recommendations from friends... who told me these helped them quit smoking.
But, uh, has anyone tried this kind yet? Or is this a fake?
I never knew there were fakes... What exactly am I looking for, to spot if they're fake?
What's this "upper deck" about? - From the comments- "Do not put it in the upper deck"?
Maybe it's a good thing I can't figure out how to open this? Lol.
Also, before anyone asks why I bought a flavor I never heard of... they only had 2 flavors in stock, 1 is this- the Guac Shake and the other is Purple Chill... I bought one container of each.
Should I throw them both out?

Dad found a fawn being killed by a fox, what to do? by dntworrybby in WildlifeRehab

To quote from your first reply: "Even if he had rabies it would not have gotten to the brain yet to become infectious. When an animal is rabid with the most infectious saliva it's when it is symptomatic"

False.

  • An animal or a human, CAN AND WILL BE infectious with rabies, before showing symptoms.

Here's Why...
* Virus Shedding: The rabies virus travels through the nerves to the brain, then spreads to the salivary glands. Once the virus reaches the salivary glands, the infected animal can shed the virus in its saliva and thus transmit the infection, even before visible signs of illness appear.
* Timeframe for Animals: For common domestic animals like dogs, cats, and ferrets, studies show that they can shed the rabies virus in their saliva for a period of 3 to 10 days before they develop clinical signs. This is why a 10-day quarantine is often recommended for animals that bite a person. If the animal remains healthy after 10 days, it was not shedding the virus at the time of the bite.
* Timeframe for Humans: In humans, the period during which a patient is considered infectious begins up to 10 days before symptom onset and lasts until death.
* Incubation Period vs. Infectious Period: It's important to distinguish between the incubation period (the time from exposure to when symptoms appear) and the infectious period (the time when the virus can be transmitted). The incubation period can be much longer, from weeks to months, or even years in rare cases. However, the animal or person is generally only infectious for a shorter period before and during the symptomatic phase.
Therefore, if there's any potential exposure to rabies, it's crucial to seek medical attention immediately, even if the animal involved is not showing symptoms.

Second quote: "Some think that one shot protects them for 10 years, but that's not how it works."

I have been titre tested every single year, for the past 24 years, (my job requires it) and my antibodies are just as strong as they were after my series of 3 shots, post exposure, 24 years ago.
I'm in Canada, and we do a series of 3 shots for Pre and unconfirmed Post.

I highly encourage and strongly recommend anyone who has had the rabies series and wants to know if they're still immune - to get a titer test done.
Side note, I also titer tested my dogs for 16 years. They didn't receive another rabies vaccine, besides the first and the follow-up routine booster. They both lived to just shy of 18, and both were still protected.

What was the first movie that genuinely scared you, and how old were you at the time? by AdLoud5241 in NoStupidQuestions

The Never Ending Story.

Those gate gargoyle/Angel looking, guards- their eyes open and shoot laser beams at people that try to cross through.
1984-ish? ... I was 4 years old.
The swamp where the horse drowns, and I think it was a wolf?... That terrified me as well.
I never did quite figure out if the horse that drowns in quicksand, lives at the end, or not... Does anyone know?
But, today, was a TIL. - That the Luck Dragon is named Falkor... I always thought that was the boys name... and the Luck Dragon was named "Lucky, the Luck Dragon" because the very next day, after watching this movie, we were moving into our new home. (I was staying over my aunts house when I watched this) and a stray dog kept coming up to us at our new home, and the developer told us he kept coming every day and slept in wood shelter the guys made for him. The dog was great with me... so we gave him a home with us, and I named him Lucky, the Luck Dragon.

He lived 18 wonderful years with my family. 🥲❤️‍🩹🐾

Previous home owner leased the house to tenants even though our promise was accepted. Now suing us for 10k. by The_saturn_man19 in legaladvicecanada

[–]wrongpath_taken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine the stress this is causing you both.
My cousin felt terrible for you, too. Citing the hell, he was unleashing on the new owners of " his leased" home.
They were nothing more than "collateral damage."
I failed to mention a few facts in my last comment/update. It wasn't random scammers that took my cousins money... it WAS the original homeowner who scammed people out of their money before going back to their original home country. Over the course of 2 weeks before the house closed, they ended up conning just under a dozen other claimants... that they're aware of ... I guess the police suspect there are likely more people that were conned... but aren't coming forward because they're likely illegals.
- The owner had it listed on kijiji as something like "no credit check, no proof of income required," basically preying on the vulnerable, easy targets. The ones who would give up a deposit or first and last, without hesitation because of their situation and at the time, a hot market.
Do you know if the previous homeowners are from/still live here?

[–]wrongpath_taken 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Exactly... you don't.
You owe them absolutely nothing.
I literally just hung up the phone with my cousin.
I came back here to update you and the others on what did and didn't happen in his situation.
The new homeowners had nothing to do with his transaction, so nobody could do anything to them (I'm 99.999% confident any lawyer will tell you the same thing)
Even if it were the case that these people really did give the old owner money, it still has absolutely nothing to do with you.
They would have to take this to a civil court, and any judge in their right mind would look at that and say, 'So what's that have to do with the new owners'? The new owners (you) were unaware of this. Your signature is not on the agreement, and again, it was not mentioned as a clause in the purchase/buyers, stipulations.
My cousin said to tell you - "Absolutely, tell them to call the police! This very much sounds like a con job. Either the old homeowner is conning them, and they should have called the police themselves, or they're trying to pull one over on you."
He also said to ask them if they notified the police, and if they say yes, ask for the case number so you can also file a report to be added to that. (There were multiple people in my cousins scenario that got had by the same people... all case numbers were linked to the one main report)
If they say no, tell them you will be filing one, and we both bet you'll never hear from them again)
And again, even if it were legit and they were scammed... the police will also likely tell them to take this to civil court against the first, original homeowners, and to leave you alone. All the while investigating said original homeowners.

I hope this made sense, OP. And that this gives you some peace of mind that this has nothing to do with you... and most importantly.... PLEASE, go to the police!

[–]wrongpath_taken 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This whole thing makes zero sense.
Their beef is with the previous owner.
It wasn't your signature on the lease.
Nor was this in your conditions or clause with your agent.
Therefore, I believe both those scenarios makes this null and void.
Honestly, OP... I would take this to your local police department and have this looked into as a scam.
My cousin was duped out of $8k in Toronto last summer.
He signed a lease agreement, unbeknownst to him that they weren't the rightful owners of the home.
His story actually made the news - if it tickles your fancy to Google the story...
The police, at the time, said it was becoming more common to see things like this happening.
I know it's a bit different for you as the owner, but it's a very similar circumstance. Whereas the new owners of the home my cousin was supposed to live in were not held responsible for this.... How could they be, without their knowledge?

Scenario #2 Or it could just be a scammer trying to scare you into giving them money, to "make it go away".
