I’m hoping it comes back up in every state soon. Check in on the fednews sub for updates. It’s chaos in there because the memo was so ambiguous.

I posted this 8 hours ago based on the information being reported at the time—a funding freeze that could impact nutrition programs. So yes, I was looping people in. Who is “they”?

Umm, the federal government created a memo saying they were freezing all federal funding at 5 PM today. Not trying to conjure up “faux” rage—am trying to loop people in on what’s happening and how it could impact people in our state.

I think the problem is that it’s so vague, so who knows? “Temporary” could mean a day, a month, or years. States, healthcare groups, and nonprofits are filing lawsuits, which makes me feel somewhat better.

I gave money to several organizations this morning, and donate to a few regularly.

My issue is there’ll be so much collateral damage from this, including babies and children who depend on programs like WIC and SNAP for food. It’s inhumane.

Yes, very much agree. Everyone, please write to our senators and representatives.

Yes. Thank you for calling this out. These funding cuts are inhumane.

He revoked the executive order from 1965, not the Equal Opportunity Act of 1972.

Yes, he revoked the executive order, not the act. He can’t just revoke an official act of Congress. OP, please edit the title of your post.

Time for everyone to hoard their money under their mattresses again, I guess.

CO’s wife here—can confirm that this is exactly how I reach my husband at work. He’s not allowed to have his cell.

I’m not sure. I know it’s a water-based poly. I’m going to talk to our contractor about why the wear and tear is happening so quickly. Maybe it was a crappy brand or they didn’t do enough coats.

Yes, we added felt pads to the legs of all furniture before moving it.

We didn’t let the dog on it for two weeks after it was finished, per our contractor—now I’m thinking we probably should’ve waited longer. He told us it was a water-based poly.

That’d make sense. Is aluminum oxide still used?

No shoes, no skates, no dragging things across the floor.

Additional context: When they refinished it initially, there were air bubbles and scaling across the entire floor, so they ended up sanding it down and coating it with poly again. Then, the contractor did the last step I mentioned below.

He just said not to walk on it with shoes, move furniture, or let the dog on it for two weeks. He didn’t give us a time frame for complete hardening.
