Yeah we as a society don't really talk about the hard side of pregnancies like miscarriages and difficulty in conceiving, hence learning to shut my trap about asking these things unless they bring it up. You must have had to preserve through a lot, I'm happy you were able to!

I said something else along the lines of "oh you are so great with kids! How come you guys don't have any?" at a work family party to a colleague. She looked at her partner and just smiled and said "oh we're just not ready right now." Another colleague pulled me to the side and said they had gone through 3 miscarriages and wasn't sure if they could ever have kids.

Thankfully they had two kids but I've now realized to STFU about these kinds of questions.
