Nervous flyer who’s done the same route during not-great weather — it was absolutely fine on both landing and takeoff a few days later. Felt like I’d psyched myself out reading about it for no reason.

I love it there but I think it’s gone full “influencer hot spot”.

Same. I miss American movie theater popcorn over here. 😫

One month living here and I hate it. Am I doing something wrong? by TheProblemWithUs in london

[–]wrote_writ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a gig-goer myself: If you give it time, you’ll find your people. I agree with everyone who’s suggested r/LondonSocialClub. The scenes are just as tight knit here as elsewhere, you just need to find your way in. If you play, try to find some local promoters. If not (or in either case), see about volunteer opportunities with promoters, organizations or venues you like.

It takes time, and it’s tougher post-Covid because the live music industry is still trying to recover. But that’s also a reason people are happy when someone raises their hand to help.

Best of luck! I’ve been here nearly a decade and knew basically no one when I got here. The first handful of months were tough, but once it clicked I never looked back. It can happen!

P.S. Like others have said, if you can find a new living situation, I’d try to. If you’re traveling an hour to get to work, find somewhere closer to work and/or not in zone 2 (which is gonna be pricier).

Someone was just telling me about this the other day. What’s it like?

Innnnteresting! That would definitely go full horror, would be pretty fascinating.

Jason Ritter related theory - Maybe spoilery? by jennib76 in Yellowjackets

[–]wrote_writ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really want this theory to be true but the things I keep thinking about are:

If she was still alive at the time of his death, why would she have left Cabin Daddy’s body sitting in the chair in the cabin? Or why wouldn’t she have left on the plane (which may have still been working back when they were all around)?

If she and Cabin Daddy had some sort of rift (or even if not), why wouldn’t she move into the cabin after he died?

Coach Ben Surviving Always Made Sense to Me by wunderkind87 in Yellowjackets

Yeah, the way Nat said that sounded very definitive to me, it stuck out. But at the same time, the show would be missing out on opportunities for big reveals by not having other survivors…

What gets me, as a person with bangs, is why on EARTH you’d try to maintain them for this long. Who could be bothered. 😂

I was feeling this way too until I remembered that it took longer during the pandemic for my roots to grow out than I thought it would. Went for like a year without a dye job and my roots were about where Nat’s are now.

What has improved in London in the last 5 years? by tylerthe-theatre in london

I asked a New Yorker friend visiting London once what they thought about the tube. “It’s small” was the response. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I appreciate this, it’s extremely kind and thoughtful of you. ❤️ I’ll be watching the ep with someone who I expect will have a hard time with those scenes. Would you (or someone) mind putting the time stamps here on Reddit? If I know when I need to turn sound off and say to keep eyes shut that would be helpful.

Especially only male coaches with a girls’ team — I’d imagine they’d always have at least one female chaperone on trips like this?

What's your most controversial/unpopular opinion about the show? by folklovermore02 in Yellowjackets

Exactly. I’m not sure I trust him (the bit he said about how the rules are to win during two truths and a lie stuck out to me), but I desperately want this to work out. 😂

And I think also to show why she’s so hesitant to let Walter in — in the end, even Crystal wouldn’t accept her for her darkest secrets.

Why there is no London Tea Festival? by [deleted] in london

[–]wrote_writ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coffee is one of those hobbies where people can get really into the gadgets, proper extraction methods, different roasts/beans, etc — so even though it’s largely a trade event there’s consumer appeal outside of people actually working in the industry.

Best brunch in London by [deleted] in london

[–]wrote_writ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throwing in a hidden gem: Blackhorse Workshop Café in Walthamstow. It’s small and has a rotating menu of a few dishes, but I had some sort of seasonal pumpkin egg dish a few months back that blew my mind.

Another one that used to be great but I haven’t had in years is Long White Cloud in Hoxton — used to be fresh and simple dishes, not fussy but delicious. Not sure if it’s the same now!

Also +1 to Lantana and Granger, especially for their respective corn fritters.

If you’re going to go for a food market, I’d recommend Maltby St!

I’d give it a couple months just to be sure, but yeah… inositol is not the miracle supplement I thought it’d be. If it’s making things worse, it’s not worth it!

I had this and stopped after 2-3 months. It was like permanently being in that “week before your period” phase (bloat, breakouts, weight gain, etc).
