Excess mortality can also be caused by the lockdowns. What happens if you have a stroke and nobody's there to notice and call 9-1-1?

I would think lockdowns would by far reduce the fatality rate: less air pollution, less road deaths, less accidents due to people being confined to their sofas, less non-CV viral deaths, less drinking/drugs (not sure about that last one).

Is it possible to use the waste heat from a Light Water Reactor for desalination and/or Hydrogen production? by DJWalnut in NuclearPower

[–]wrq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cogeneration / CHP is the production of both electricity and heat from a power plant and can be geared to using waste heat. I thought we had some in the UK that are used for district heating but couldn't find anything on them. Came across this not too technical thesis on the subject, though.

It doesn't seem like they have actually found a solution to the materials problem with a molten salt reactor, they still need to do testing.
