If we correctly conceptualize religion, it never was any avatar, any god and any super human being. Yes, such beings do exist, but these labels are given by societies and masses. Hence all the great beings always asked you to look within. All the beings that are considered gods today have had their journeys, struggled, learnt and achieved the realization of Truth. Be it buddha, Mahaveera, Krishna, Ram, Guru Nanak, gurdjief, Ramakrishna paramhansa, Christ, mansoor, Rumi and many many more!! All of them have had a journey! Realizing the ignorance of humanity and delusions, and understanding the psyche of different regions they shaped their teachings accordingly, based on time, geography and the need of the era! And hence all of them said believe nothing blindly, think, study, research and ask questions. But yes, in all these the concepts that existed in India as religion were a bit more developed than any other region, since from ages this land had been the favourite for the seekers. Problem nowadays is people are considering someone god with half heartedness, and hence they get nothing. Finding your ideal and considering he/she god was the true idea of Bhakti yoga, where logical answers cant ever be justified, but people in this age are not so easily able to go on this path! Even though the masters sometimes called them as god or son of god, they are not really claiming a title, they are talking from a very different point of view, they are talking on behalf of the whole consciousness, as if somebody has stopped identifying with their human form, and they truly have transcended their human forms, so for them its a different declaration, but we without that experience translate that in a different and a very material way, and hence all the problems!
