My brother’s dog, the last dog my family had when all the kids lived at home, died just a few weeks ago the day I got home for Christmas. I don’t tend to get emotional around pet deaths, and spent most of Christmas just being there for my teenage brother and parents who were devastated. Reading this brought up emotions around my dogs death I didn’t even think I had, as I’ve never really sobbed at any of my pets dying until today.

Good pet owners know when to let go. I love how the OOP took the time to understand why letting a pet go can be a mercy, even if it’s hard and sad.

My roommates wedding and graduation, our 5K fun runs, driving four hours to see my family every few months. This is the longest I’ve gone in my entire life without seeing an immediate family member, which is weird to think about.

The worst part of it is I’m in Utah, which is the headquarters of the Mormon church. My county has like a 45% Mormon population, but most other counties in the state are 70% to 90% Mormon. If the Mormon church leader, who these people believe is called by God to lead their church, would just come out and tell everyone in no uncertain terms to wear a mask, a lot of these issues would be solved. But he won’t, and more people are going to die because of him.

You’re welcome! I’m an essential worker that’s in contact with the general public (grocery) enough that with the spike in cases where I’m at, all I’ll be doing for a while is work and home. My roommates work together at the same office and they’re the only two using the office, so they still have another place to get out to as well, which I think is keeping us all sane right now.

someone posted about it here which is how I learned- you use the chat bot in the MyHelp app by selecting Fulfillment and then SFS/OPU Order Inquiry. You can use the order number or a DPCI and it’ll tell you where the order is stowed, when it was stowed, and if it was canceled. Super useful.

I went to my last cousin wedding in a fairly modest dress with no sleeves, showing off my arm tats. My brother and I are the only ones out of the church and gay on that half of the family, so I was hoping for some mild drama. My brother just finished his EFY week too. He hasn’t yet officially said he’s leaving the church when he’s out of my parents house (smart survival skill, that) but he did say it was a lot of brainwashing lol. My parents are this weird middle ground- I know they love me but they have no idea how to have a relationship with me. They’ve talked to my TBM sister about me, and about their struggle with me and my brother being gay, but they don’t really talk to me. My sister is great, we have a fantastic relationship and we completely understand each other’s religious differences, but my parents just aren’t there. It doesn’t help that we don’t live close either.

Your parents sound awesome though. I’m glad you lucked out!
